Any suggestions on where to get affordable eyeglasses somewhere in midtown without going to the mall areas? Tried the new downtown eyecare place on main and all their frames were $150 and up. I'm looking to spend less than $100 total with lenses.
I'd rather not go to the mall areas because it inevitably ends up being two separate trips out there, and I can barely handle one trip out there. You can't really find any info online as to which eyeglass places are affordable and which ones are for people who spend $300 on glasses.
Going to be a tough one, I'm afraid. Optometry has some of the highest margins of any retail. (so I've heard)
Empire at 21st and Harvard treated me well, but I wasn't looking for a bargain especially.
Dr. Z's 31st and Harvard. 2 pair for $99 with the eye exam. My ability to see this post is testament.

With a name like that I expect him to wear a monocle, pet a cat, and put laser beams on sharks.
Generally I'm weary of any TV show, store, or anything else branded around one person.
Unless it went back down, Dr.Z is about $129 for two pairs now or about 90ish for one nice looking pair. Either price is with exam. I would only recommend going to the midtown location in my experience the on 71st doesn't have the best staff in the world.
I meant to add, while some of the chains have better "deals" for most of the frames I like it ended up costing more so I have stuck with Dr.Z and his associates.
Try Harrel Eyecare Associates at 45th and Harvard. I think they have a $99 glasses special.

My SO likes Harrel, for what it's worth. She uses contacts, so I've got no idea what they charge for glasses.
