Congratulations are in order for Mr. Ahmadinejad. The United Nations has recognized Iran's vast contribution to advancing Women's rights and appointed them to The UN Commission on Women's Rights. Dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women the commission hopes to achieve great things with Iran's contribution. Iran will be joined by 10 other countries: Belgium, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Estonia, Georgia, Jamaica, Iran, Liberia, the Netherlands, Spain, Thailand and Zimbabwe.
When asked for comment, Iran's new representative on the commission declined due to the fact that she is not allowed to speak.

Someone needs to make a Sit-Com about the UN. It writes itself. :D
QuoteAccording to Fox News, Iran obtained the four-year seat by default: Along with Thailand, it was the only nation that put forward candidates to fill two empty seats for the commission's Asian bloc.
In Iran, women are required to be covered from head to toe in public, and may be beaten for dressing in what is considered an "immodest" manner. Earlier this month a top Iranian cleric blamed immodest women for earthquakes. Women also possess fewer rights in the areas of marriage, parenthood, inheritance and career.
Earlier this week Iran announced it was dropping its bid for membership in the UN Human Rights Council after being subjected to heavy criticism over its human rights record and facing heavy opposition from Western nations
Looks like the countries that should've given a damn did not give a damn.

I'm surprised Fox News didn't blame it on Obama.
