I am always amazed at the knowledge that the members here on this forum have when it comes to things I just cannot find out anywhere else.
So here goes. Like they always do, Channel 6 has let go, or she has found another job. Latoya Silmon. As usual there is nothing on their web site(that I can find)
I sent a message to Latoya herself on her Facebook page with no response. So I turn to you my wealth of knowledge members.
I can find out....Might be Saturday though.....
Thanks BB. Just one of those nosey have to know kind of topic.
Why do I never notice things like this? Is she the one thats also a teacher/left to be a teacher last time she went off the air or is that one of the other ladies on Channel 6? I will admit I don't follow who is presenting the news much.

Tami Marler left and became the director of public information for Tulsa Public Schools

Thank you for that and sorry for the thread drift ;D
That's interesting, Channel 6 is one of a kind~ My favorite anchor is Ann Stearling on channel 23 in the morns. That Lady is stunning. IMO the best weather person is Julian Chinn she's great doing the weather and has a super personality on top of it all.
Still no info about Latoya. Hmm

Sigh...
If you are going to claim you live here, get the news personalities names right.
It's Julie Chin
It's also Ann Sterling.
But Ann can't hold a candle to Chera Kimiko....sorry.
And having the best personality doesn't make you the best weather person. The most knowledgeable as much some people hate to admit it are all on Channel 6. Dick Faurot and Travis Meyer are quite possibly the most experienced tandem in this part of the country.
Julie Chin:
At a Tulsa State Fair rodeo a few years back, she shared MC duties with ... some other local celebrity. After a flurry of perky, chirpy blather, she hooted, "Yeeeeeeee-haw!!!!" quickly adding, "Pretty good for a New York girl, huh?!"
Consummate disinterest (bordering on antipathy) from the audience prevailed...palpably...
Pretty much sums up Ms. Chin for me.

I've given up trying to pick a meteorologist to trust in. Most of the time, I'll just get the "forecast discussion" from weather.gov and come to my own conclusions. Seems to work pretty well.

I like my way better. I open the door and say "hey look it's raining" and grab an umbrella.
Since we did a subject drift, I will chime in with my opinion of the best Oklahoma Weatherman who passed away in Iowa a few years back.
Gary Shore. When he said duck. I ducked.

+1
My favorite word that he came up with was "snizzle" for snow, freezing rain and drizzle.
IIRC he was one of the few people telling the Corp Of Engineers and other emergency officials that they weren't releasing enough water out of Keystone back in '86, because the Corp realied on a broken flow gauge that showed the water wasn't rising when Gary and the weatehr service knew how much rain had fallen upstream of the broke gauge.
I have to share my favorite anchor here in Phoenix. Beverly Kidd.

Not bad, but would have liked to seen the OEM version.

that's a much better photo of her. The one you posted makes it look like she's had some facial surgery..
Latoya Silmon seems to be over at channel 8 now. :(
Julie Chin reminds me of a chipmunk or something. It's so hard to take what she is saying seriously.

That's funny (the remark about Julie Chin). I remember bumping into her (literally, by accident) at a Oiler hockey game last season.
She can't be much taller than 5 feet. If she's that.

Ah ha. A answer. How did you find out. Has she been on air. that would be a surprise with all the no compete clauses they usually write into their contracts.
I saw Julie Chin out at the Air show. I was surprised because a friend of mine had told me that in person she was not all that attractive. maybe it's just me but I have to disagree with him. I found her quite attractive.

Yeppers she was on air as just a reporter today in the 4:30 newscast.
Thank you Noodlez. I never watch channel 8. I would never had known.

I wish 8 and 6 would get into the 21st century like 2 and start broadcasting their news in HD. It looks like 8 can broadcast it; whether or not they have the cameras for it is another story.

I don't watch the news on 8 either, but their promos for the news were in HD this weekend. I think they must has switched.
