I am creating a monthly newsletter for the DECOPOLIS Tulsa Art Deco Museum, that I can send out via e-mail and need a snazzy name other than "Newsletter".
Would like to have a main title and then a second section title that will be about interesting Deco era info, pics, fun facts and tidbits.
What I have thought up so far for the main title......
Zig Zag Gazette ?
Zig Zag Times ?
For the facts and tidbits section.... just brainstorming here
Some random words.....
Magazine, Report, Notes, Times, Tidings, World, Rag, Monthly, bulletin, News, gossip, reader,,,
Some period words and phrases
Jazz, Bee's Knees, Juice joint, Gin joint, Moderne, Fly Boy, Cats Meow, puttin on the ritz, on the up and up, Deco, Streamline,,,,
Bootleg Banter?
Speakeasy?
May also add a 3rd section for upcoming events and reminders.
Here is the initial design, and as you can see, just putting "Newsletter" at the top seems rather boring.

Great idea.
Only issue I've got is what "Zig zag" is to a guy like me with an old smoke habit.
Journal, Sentinal, Press, Star
Decopolis Star has a nice ring to it.
You might try this link.

Fantastic link thanks! And I do agree the "DECOPOLIS STAR" does have a nice ring to it.
I have no idea what Zig Zag means to a smoker?

Available at Starship, Oz and other headshop er tobacco shops everywhere.
Although I have to say that I do like Zig Zag Gazette, because it refers (no pun intended, well maybe) to part of the Deco style and Gazette just reminds me of 20's through the 50's movies and tv shows where the news papers were often called that.
I think the word DECO should be followed by one of these:
Standard
Record
Observer
Dispatch
Planet
World

I think "Decopolis Dispatch" would be quite nice.

+1
If you decided on Zig Zag, you might want to clear with Pfox so there is no confusion with his property venture.
How bout.....The Urban Palate' Gazette.........
Some good replies. I would like the name to not sound too serious but have a fun quality to it, but not be too silly either lol.
While not a standard news name, I like "Between the Deco Lines"

I think that would make a good tagline.
BTW, where did the art in the masthead come from?
Right now I am leaning towards the.....
DECOPOLIS STAR
DISPATCH
The second section having deco era info and tidbits, is titled
DECO
DISCOVERY
Then a little Comedy/funnies section will be called
LINDY HOPPER'S
Hilarious Hoots & Farsical Funnies

An image I found captioned (Science Hall, Century of Progress Exposition) Had to do some cleaning up to get rid of lines creases and splotches, then enhanced the colors and tones to make it really glow and pop. I figure its old enough to be ok to use, at least temporarily, for someone suggested I use it as inspiration to eventually create a similar one having Tulsa buildings in the background like the Union Depot and an old Deco Theater.

I like. I believe the correct spelling is "farcical", however. (yes, I'm a pedantic donkey, sue me) ;D
Deco Dish
Look and layout so far. Still needs a little more tweaking but getting close to acceptable.

Thanks for the spell check. :)
Those look nice. I like that you used reasonable typefaces. Some people go all ridiculous with them and make me want to gag.
The "Deco Planet" or "Planeteer"? A takeoff from Superman and Rocketeer comic type characters that flourished during those times. Just came to me.

I like, perhaps I can work one of those into something else in the future. Another section of the newsletter. Gosh I wish I was still making the kind of money I was a year or so ago lol. Have run across some really neat Buck Rogers type stuff from ray-guns to tricycles. Saw this one tricycle in an antique store that was black and futuristicy/sci-fi streamlined lol. Reeeally neat, the styling was fantastic.
Really nice Artist.
