There goes Obama again proving he's no liberal!
" Siddiqui ( let's find a nickname because nobody can pronounce this POS name) is a former pesticide lobbyist and is currently vice president of science and regulatory affairs at CropLife America, a biotech and pesticide trade group that lobbies to weaken environmental laws. He takes the absurd position that pesticides are not pollutants because they're not intended to be pollutants.
He also posits that regulations of pesticide use in the name of human health and other concerns violates international trade laws. Spoken like a true psychopath: profits are the only value. "

Uh, no....they are extremely smart. They make Dumbya look like a(n)
chimp idiot (he already was uglier and stupider than a chimp). But being a truth teller means one must also be objective enough to speak out when he spots business as usual and special interests that run against my principles. Lobbyists put these people in office and tell them who to appoint, what legislation to pass. Doesn't mean I always agree or fear speaking out like you righteous GOP spooners.
You should have spoken out against those lying judges who were appointed to SCOTUS.

You don't think Sotomayor gilded the lily any during her hearings for SCROTUS? Puh-lease.
What he's saying makes sense. Bushies never questioned, never complained and vigorously defended policies, practices and appointments they knew were wrong. We have an obligation to tell the emperor he's naked. This appointment should be scrutinized.

Yeah, just ask Harriet Miers.
I doubt our paths will cross. But if they do....
We are such strange creatures. Pesticides, antibiotics, disinfectants, and anti-viral agents. These things kill. That makes them easy to demonize.
It is important that we are aware of the negative factors involved in the use of these products. It is also important that we be aware of the positive.
Pesticides save more lives than antibiotics/antivirals every year and are far cheaper to implement correctly. Most of our modern pesticides are plant based and have a very short "half-life" in the environment. Currently the most widley used and vigorously attacked is the Pyrethrin family of pesticides. They have a soil "half-life" of about 10-20 days, and they KILL very well. They are made from the flowers of the Chrysanthemum. Strange how the organic farmer will use capsaicin, mint extract, diatomacious earth, crushed and powdered marigold flower, detergent and potassium salts of fatty acids to kill insects on their crops but they won't touch Pyrethrins.
DDT is still banned in the US, and now we have fabulous alternatives like Pyrethrins and malathions that break down after use.
During the time when DDT was widely used, the National Academy of Sciences estimated that it saved more than 500 million lives. . . And it still saves millions every year in developing countries where more expensive alternatives do not exist.
We need to be careful when we demonize any product. Those who thrash against the use of pesticides simply don't understand the nature of the problems they solve.
Wow! I sound like a lobbyist for the pesticide industry.

A "green" pesticide.
