What's the deal with the new jogging trail going cheap on trail mile markers? Instead of putting up a post they use a can of spray paint to paint the numbers on the pavement, Why not just plant a stick in the ground and paint a number on that instead- when I run I like to look ahead to the next mile marker to see how I'm doing against my stop watch, with the miles painted on the pavement I cannot see the mile marker ahead. They spend millions of dollars on the fancy frills on Riverparks and then use a can of spray paint for mile markers. I hope it's only a temp thing and that they plan to put up mile marker posts when the work is all done...

If you don't like it, move...
;D
Probably a safety issue, ever have a broken rib?
Oh, and for what it's worth to those who have not been out yet this spring, the trail is open all the way from 71st to 11th (SW Blvd), or at least it was Sunday before last. They have not completed the dual trails yet, but at least you don't have to portage around construction fencing at the moment.
Someone please stop me from banging my head against the table...over and over and over...
'kraut...as far as I know and from what I've seen...the old half mile posts are gone. What they have done is placed circular half mile markers flush in the asphalt trail. At this time...they've been installed from SW Blvd. southward for 3.5-4.0 miles. They're harder to pick out than the old wooden posts...but I'm so used to running these trails that I have other landmarks to go by (and a GPS watch...you can get a Garmin 205 for $120...you should pick one up).

Or there again, someone as cheap as sauerkraut claims to be can glance over at the street signs on the east side of Riverside and figure out where they are at. People who actually live, work, and use the trails in Tulsa know this already though.
Oh, and 'kraut, spray-painted numbers are usually for individual running events they have around the RP area.

The painted markers I seen did not look like trail running event markings to me, they said "River Parks 3" (or something like that), besides painted markers wash off and wear off in time, I like the stand up mile posts, I don't use no GPS I use a good old fashioned stop watch, The Trinity Trail in Forth Worth has some real nifty looking mile markers you can see them when your still a ways off so then you can pick up the pace and hope to lose a few more seconds as you approach the mile markers, I use them for my speed work. All I'm wondering about is with the money spent on RiverParks it's funny they would go that cheap on mile markers, you'd think they would put up fancy gold plated mile markers, unless it's just a temp thing until all the work is done and then they will put up some good mile markers... I don't run much in winter I'm not much of a cold weather runner my legs and muscles just don't work loose when it's cold, I do my best running when it's 70 degrees and above. I got out and ran a few miles this past weekend and the new trails look great. The fancy $5000.00 light posts along the trail seem over done, I don't think that was a wise use of the funds, very few jogging trails are lighted anyway, JMO on the jogging trail gang-. :-X

And the comment about Omaha comes when?

A missed opportunity to insert "Marshall's". What a shame. ;D

What's even more of a shame is that we won't get to see a response until the library opens and a computer becomes free.

I know, I know, I hope to get to Tulsa this year to try Marshall's. I have been to the Telluride Blues and Brews fest three times, and the most important thing other than the music is on Saturday when they have the grand tasting event. ~50 micro brews and three hours of trying out their brews.
Anyone willing to send me some Marshall's? I'll pay for the beer and the shipping. Or trade for some really good southwestern salsa. http://stingnlinger.com/ (http://stingnlinger.com/)

Care to pay for cleaning all the coffee I just spewed out of my keyboard?
Dback, do they have a good salsa verde?

Yes, there chili verde is good as well as the black bean. I also found the pineapple to be good.

I thought he said they closed the libraries in Omaha.
Not by far, the Omaha libraries have outstanding computers that work super fast and we have no time limits, They offer time in 60 minute time blocks that you can use over & over, and if no one is waiting for a computer the system adds 15 minutes to your time over & over until that computer has a registration for it.

That ran out about two years ago! So now that he has lied about moving back to T-town, he has...wait...can you have less than zero credibility? If so, he does!

Yes and I bought a house in Tulsa but I'm in marketing and I travel to Omaha, Indianapolis, Kansas City since we have customers there. :-X
Where in Tulsa? (Just because I am curious, I promise).

Just a half mile from the Wal-Mart on Memorial & Adm. It's not bad, I paid only $33,000 for it minus my tax credit of $3,300.00, so it really costed me only $30,000 it's appraised at $59,000 and in great Shape, I'm remodling it as I live in it, I just put in a vinyl window and new doors. Oklahoma taxes are low as are the utilities. Omaha Nebraska and Texas have very high prop. taxes, (however Texas has no state income taxes so that balances out somewhat) In Omaha, NE a $100,000 home pays over over $2,000 in prop. taxes. My taxes in Tulsa are just around $500.00 minus the Homestead deduction.

If true, that's my neighborhood. Leave immediately.

This town is big enough for both of you.
Congratulations of buying a house in Tulsa. I live a couple of miles southeast of that Wal-Mart.
Hey~ We're all neighbors, how 'bout that! It's a nice area and it's close to everything from Wal-Mart to Burger King, McDonalds, and Wendys to Family Dollar and Dollar General stores to WareHouse Mart, and Advance Auto with a big QT store right there on the korner. The neighborhood is close to everything. Tulsa has alot of clasic neighborhoods of all kinds from the old time big brick homes around Peoria & Lewis to what ever kind of home ya want inbetween. :-X
Yep, I seen those new trail markers Sunday when I went for a run they are indeed cement circles buried in the trail pavement with a green and blue leaf painted on the marker and a white mile number below it. I wonder how long it will take till the markings fade off? I noticed they have those $5,000 lamp posts ever 80 feet of so along the trail, IMO that seems like a huge waste of money. ::)
