Title: Cox Outages
Post by: patric on March 05, 2010, 12:35:56 PM
Ive been wondering why it's been so slow here....

"Todd Lee, chief information officer for Tulsa Public Schools, said the entire school district has been without Internet service since 1 a.m. Thursday. He said that TPS is just one of many local customers, including other school districts, colleges, businesses and residences, affected by a service disruption by Cox Communications.

TULSA, OK -- Cox Communications in Tulsa is working to restore phone service to customers impacted by an outage Thursday morning.  http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=12083589

So bundling all your eggs in one basket is not sounding so good.  At least if you have more than one provider you wouldnt loose everything when the infrastructure of one goes down.

In most cases though, when phone goes down, the internet doesn't or vice versa.  So bundling doesn't really have any bearing on it.

Or you could be like one of my clients in Alabama who as we speak has two different Internet connections (with path diversity!) out, along with their phones.

Sadly, they have every available Internet provider at their location already.  :P

I also have two providers. Cox internet and Windstream bundle. After the ice storm I have to have my home land line. I also have DirecTV.

Cox Communications has restored digital phone and Internet service to scores of commercial customers in the Tulsa area following service disruptions that began early Thursday, company executives said.

The loss of phone and data services were experienced by customers throughout the metro Tulsa area, including the Tulsa Public Schools and businesses around Tulsa International Airport, officials said.

No cause has been determined for the service disruptions, said Cox spokeswoman Christine Martin.
