Title: SC legislator seeks to ban federal currency
Post by: Ed W on February 18, 2010, 06:08:54 PM
I can't make this stuff up.

South Carolina representative Mike Pitts (R-Obviously) introduced a bill to replace federal currency with gold and silver in his state.

The lawmaker believes that a shift to an economy based on gold and silver coins would give the state a "base of currency" should that collapse come. As one expert told the Scoop, however, his bill would likely be ruled unconstitutional because it "violates a perfectly legal and Constitutional federal law, enacted pursuant to the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution, that federal reserve notes are legal tender for all debts public and private."

At over a thousand to one exchange gold for the paper it would solve our nation debt.

Check house bill HJR 1003 in your search engine whereas Oklahoma has voted to withdraw from the federal union.  Some leaders think Washington is just too expensive for Oklahoma to belong to their club. ;D
