I was wondering if any of you know of any good mental clinics or hospitals for a Paranoid Schizophrenic/Sociopath??? My MIL has both and has recently started abusing marijuana and methamphetamine. She seriously needs help! She called us around Christmas and said the reason why it snowed is it's a sign that our military is fixing to nuke all of us!!!! She's EXTREMELY crazy! She will not go voluntarily. But we have alot of evidence about her schizophrenia/sociopathy because she has been medically diagnosed not once but twice now.
That's too bad. Meth definitely isn't going to help anyone pre-disposed to paranoia. You can't force her in unless she's threatening to hurt herself or others.
Any of the area clinics are going to be set up to help, as far as long-term residential care, I have no clue. Some that come to mind around here are: Shadow Mountain, Parkside, Brooks, Laureatte, and I think both St. John's and Hillcrest have mental floors. Try a look up under mental health in the Yellow Pages or on line. Very sorry to hear of this predicament.
MHAT may be a resource also (Mental Health Association of Tulsa).
Are you sure she cannot be forcibly institutionalized? Might want to check with a health professional or lawyer. As late as the early 1970's it only took two signitures of close relatives to have someone committed in Oklahoma for observation. Probably changed by now. MIL's are hard enough to deal with as it is.

She has made threats to us. She is extremely obsessed with our 2 year old daughter and called the weekend before last. We got into a heated arugment because we have told her NUMEROUS times to quit calling us. Well we've caught her and her new boyfriend sitting outside our house at 2:30am before. And she made a threat to take our 2 year old daughter and I'm not talking legally. Then continued to tell us we are starting a fight with the wrong people. Also, I do believe marijuana is part of the problem on top of the methamphetamine. Because any kind of drug will enhance the affects of the paranoid schizophrenia and the sociopath. Also I have found out that ALL serial killers are sociopaths. Therefore since she has made threats against trying to take our daughter in the middle of the night. I'm going Friday to get a protective/restraining order against her. Also Thank God we have bought a gun before all this started happening due to the fact of all the police being laid off and Tulsa is just plain bad. I dare her to break into my house and take my daughter. I would hate to have to shoot someone much less my MIL. But these are my kids I'm protecting.

First off, once you get the PO, be sure you not only follow through with it, but also have it enforced. Too often POs get put on the way side because one party doesn't want to see the other go to jail. This also might be the best way to open the door to getting her some help by having the courts involved.
Then you don't really understand the effects of marijuana. It is the meth.
This may sound strange and not intended as a excuse, But some meth addicts use marijuana or alcohol as a way of leveling off.
Strange as it sounds. They try to get back to the normal feeling that is before they did either drug.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope it doesnt lead to a more serious problem for any of you.
"Committing" a person is quite hard but you could probably get her held 72 hours for observation. The EPO is a good step but that is only saying that she is a potential danger to you. Record her phone calls and then plead with the police that she is an ongoing threat to herself and others.
If she's sitting outside your house and under the influence then call the police and try to get her and her BF busted for DUI/possession.

That's only true when people are obtaining marijuana from dealers who would rather sell them harder drugs. It's an unseen side-effect of prohibition.
Some of the behavior you are describing is classic meth paranoia. There's simply no comparison between the two.
