Maybe next time the white house/justice department will consult folks before dropping costly and unpopular terror trials in a city.

There are startling quotes in this piece:
"Estimates put the cost of a multiyear terror trial in lower Manhattan at about $200 million a year. Leaders have suggested other venues for the trial, such as the Military Academy at West Point or Stewart Air National Guard Base in upstate Newburgh.
The federal government has said they would reimburse the city for the costs, most of which cover overtime for increased security, but they won't reimburse business owners for lost revenue during the chaos, said Steven Spinola, president of the heavyweight business group Real Estate Board of New York.
"Is the federal government going to give the city $1 billion plus the cost of propping up businesses? I don't think so," Spinola said."
Sheesh, how can anyone justify spending $1 bln to try terrorist asshats when there quite obviously are less expensive and more appropriate venues to do this? W T F are these morons at DOJ and the White House thinking?
"They're in a tizzy at Justice over Bloomberg," a federal law enforcement official said. "It's like a half-baked souffle - the plan is collapsing."
There's no half-baked about this. They've got to be fully baked to think trying terrorists in civilian court is a good idea.

We could use the tourist business here. We also got lots of trained security guys looking for another job...

From "The Graduate"?
Hate to say it but I've never watched the whole movie, one that I probably should some day. Actually I cobbled it together with some stoner terminology.
What prompted the Iggy Pop avatar? (Not that I object ...)
For some reason I strarted hearing "I'm Bored" in my head the other day.

I was a big fan of the original Tampa Bay Rowdies and attended a lot of their home games. Watching Pele play was great.

CNN reported that most of that was just police overtime. Interesting how that works.
I wanted to kick this older thread to acknowledge there was a recent terrorist tried in federal court with a conviction. Funny thing is that I never knew it was happening. Props to the govt. Some of the grandstanding problems I was a concerned about apparently didn't happen.

The Bin Laden family no longer has the Bush family protecting them, so things can move ahead more normally.

You have got to learn the concept of humor. And did you edit that post I was responding to? I thought there was something about rude.
