Title: Reopen the old city hall and save money
Post by: shadows on December 31, 2009, 04:28:14 PM
Lets save the old city hall

On the front page of TW (12/28/09) "when will Tulsa's economy recover" it is implied by Mr. Mier that the purchase  of  the One Technology building, bought by the issuing of revenue bonds of which was to be a benefit to the city, be considered before the funding becomes an issue in future budgets.

We have a whole  passel of lawyers in Tulsa, even some on the council, that can look that under statute the city cannot be held responsible for revenue bond issued by a trust although authorized by the city.  The intent of the trust was to establish a revenue producing entity as beneficiary to the city.  The BOK being the master leaser of the building, bought by the trust, should be responsible for the leasing of the vacant floors in the One Technology building not the citizens of Tulsa.  The working poor should not have this non-voted assessment place on their meager incomes.

Instead of "City Hall in One Technology Building" lets open up the old City Hall and put a sigh over its door" Tulsa City Hall"

With a federal grand jury in session it would seem that some energized Lawyer would file a petition with the USAG questioning the liability of revenue bonds to the city.

And then when the economy gets better, we can go back and use that same passel of lawyers to assert that we do indeed have the power to buy and lease the building and clean up with the new tenants.

Who would ever do business with us again? In fact who will ever do business with us again?! :D
