Has anyone run/biked by the river yet? I'm wanting to get a run in this afternoon and I'm hoping the trails are clear.
I'd gotten an email from the rowing club that RPA had cleared part of the Riverwest Festival parking lot, no idea on the trails, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...
Got a couple of buddies that said they were pretty good but you will run into some patches.
I'm going to go around 3:15 and will report back.
The trails were clear and I had a great run. I went from 31st to Cyrus Avery Plaza and back. It was gorgeous out there. There were a few icy/slushy areas around the bridges at 31st and 23rd but otherwise it looked great. Kudos to Parks and Rec for having plowed the trails.
As an aside--I've run in a lot of cities. Running the renovated trails in Tulsa's Riverparks is as pleasant an experience as almost anywhere. There just isn't a better combination of great trails and beautiful views. The snowy river and crisp blue sky, with the skyline in the background and the historic Riverview architecture in the foreground, made for a fast four miles. I'd rank it up with the lakeshore paths in Chicago--not as epic, but scenery every bit as diverse and pleasant.

Why don't you come try the 31st to 11th stretch
on the water next spring? Talk about views! Send me a PM if you are interested.
I love the river trails and can't wait for them to be dual lane all the way to 71st, is that still the plan for 2011? I then hope they can keep extending them south past the casino (on the river side..) all the way to the Jenks bridge and then eventually do the same on the west bank from the Jenks bridge all the way to 11th. Now that would be quite the trail network rivaled by very few cities.
I was driving on Riverside today at around noon, and was surprised to see the trail being plowed! (I guess this is one benefit of the new "road-like" surface of the trails.) I don't remember this being done in previous years. In fact, a few years ago, I specifically remember trying to walk on the icy paths when some local runners showed me how it's easier to jog on ice than walk on it!
Nice job, Riverparks! This is terrific for local walkers, joggers and cyclists who will appreciate having a safe place to get out and exercise.

The plan is still to 71st and I even noticed new lights at 71st this weekend. The part of the trail past the casino is supposed to be done by the Creek nation.

The trail system all the way to 71st and along the West Bank is to be dual trails where it is feasible, all part of the George Kaiser Family Foundation River Parks Dual Trail Enhancements. The segment along the west bank from pedestrian bridge to I-44 should be the next phase to begin work. The property around the River Spirit Casino belongs to the Creek Nation and is planned to be realigned. The area further south of the casino is property of the City of Tulsa.
So the plan then is to have the dual trails from the Jenks bridge to the SW Blvd. bridge on both banks? There currently is not even a single trail south of 71st St. along the west bank, that will be a nice improvement as it will also connect to Riverwalk.

Last March they even plowed before it quit snowing
