Title: Tedious robo-calls from John Sullivan
Post by: rwarn17588 on October 26, 2009, 07:31:59 PM
Tonight, I got a robocall from Congressman John Sullivan in which you listened to a poorly rehearsed recorded speech from him about health care and other issues. In between Sullivan's drowsy delivery and stammering, he gave a periodic instruction that you could dial *3 to ask him a question.

I dialed it, then waited while Sullivan rambled tediously for a few more minutes.

An aide finally picked up the phone and asked, "Yes, what is your question for Congressman Sullivan?"

I asked, "Is Congressman Sullivan going to propose outlawing robocalls so that I don't have to listen to his boring speeches?"

Long pause. "I can put you into the queue." I waited a few more minutes of Sullivan droning, then hung up. His speech was so bad, it made me wonder whether he was hitting the sauce again.

And hitting people up with robocalls and making them wait interminably is no way to win fans, either.

The number was 918-749-0014 and was listed "U.S. Representati" on my caller ID.

Was this on your cell phone or do you still have a landline?

Land line.

I suspected as much.  I don't get robo calls on my cell phone.  I've not had a land line in 5 years.

Regrettably, I just recently got rid of mine. Regrettable because I've had the number for over 30 years and became attached to it. However, AT&T allows it to be a channel for abusive practices (almost all my calls were sales, politicians, collections, hang ups and pranksters) and wants to charge me more for protection from these abusers. Then they charge the abusers a fee to counteract my protection! They are corporate mobsters running rackets. Just like snail mail, they are shrinking every day.

Because I receive my internet service thru them they actually charge me more monthly to kill the line than I paid before. Currently shopping for new service.

Me too....but lately with all the brain cancer stories, it kinda makes you want to return to the old waze of hard line.
