A 33-year-old Michigan man has been charged with murder in the shootings this morning of an anti-abortion protester outside a high school and the owner of a gravel company found dead in his office.

Harlan Drake of Owosso, near Lansing, was arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder and other gun-related crimes. Prosecutors said Drake also had planned to kill a third, unidentified person.

Until now, the overwhelming number of terror attacks have originated from right-wing individuals.  This is the first I've heard of involving an attack on one of the abortion foes.

There's no word yet on his motives.  I have a bad feeling about this.

He just seemed to be settling some old scores and exacting some revenge. Drugs involved?

Domestic left wing terrorists???

This does not qualify but nice try....like Ed W said.

Just another nut who shouldn't have fire arms out to settle some personal differences before he goes to the big house. Those sick fetus pix got to the guy and triggered his anger...he doesn't appear to be part of your movement.

This is looking more like a personal animus rather than an ideological one.

Saw this on the Detroit Free Press Website, a quote from the abortion protesters son.

Interesting post on Mlive by his sone:

It will be impossible for some to believe, but my dad really didn't care about aborton.

He did this to stalk, harass, terrorize, scream at, threaten, frighten, and verbally abuse women. He had a pathologic hatred of women: his mom, my mom, everyone.

After my mom finally left him and he lost his favorite punching bag the violence and abuse that was always contained within our 4 walls was unleased on the people of Owosso.

My dad used the pro-life movement and 1st Amendments foundations to defend him, support him, and enable him. He fooled them all.

He was at the high shool because my niece was there, and female family members were always his favorite targets.

He enjoyed making people suffer.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is calling the shooting of a Michigan anti-abortion activist "deplorable."

How come we never hear or read about Republican leaders crying out "for shame?"

Domestic left wing terrorists???

It's not really that rare.  In Virginia, Oregon, Washington, California, Florida . . . all over really they have had new buildings vandalized, SUV car lots torched, and other things.  The show "Whale Wars" is arguable about left wing "terrorists"  (though whaling for research in that instance is a ridiculous pretense).  The left wing has vandalized plenty of things, and used violence to enforce their view point from time to time.  Though the right seems much more prone to violence in this country. Left wing, right wing, extremists outside the system are dangerous.

Personally, I prefer it when they are nude in a PETA cage or burning bras.

Outright killing hasn't really been in the leftist terrorist workbook since the 60's.  Despite what our good friends on Fox might have you believe.  CF is right that vandalism and destruction of property is the left's preferred method of protest, and even the most radical boogeymen (EarthFirst! and any of the whale protestors) will sabotage SUVs or try to cut your whaling lines rather than drive up to your place of business with a fertilizer bomb in the back of the van.

That's what makes this guy interesting: he's such an outlier.
