I do not think she should use stimulus money for this. Why commit us something 3 years down the road for something we may or may nor be able to fund?

TULSA, OK -- Some Tulsa City Councilors say they still don't agree with the mayor's plan to hire 18 new Tulsa Police officers with federal stimulus money. Mayor Kathy Taylor and the Police Chief Ron Palmer presented their ideas to the council on Tuesday.
Some councilors are concerned about accepting $3.5 million in federal stimulus money. The money would fund the officers' salaries for three years. The city would then have to pick up the $1.3 million tab plus equiping the officers.

A little late to the party, Skippy. Here's the thread:

And I think the police chief endorsing acceptance of the funds carries a lot of credibility.
It is not the stimulus money we should worry about it is this money will have to be secured on the world market before all nations refuse to accept it. Trade among nations will leave us out unless we abandon the promise paper trade for stable merchandise. The Mayor nor the Chief will be around when our great grandchildren struggle to pay this off. Cities and Nations can default on their obligations. Our founders when they employed the lamp lighter did not believe it would grow into such a political monster where we would be unable to pay for it. Delete the IRS and buy more printing presses to print 100 and 500 dollar bills if that is a solution.

Like Palmer would say anything in disagreement with Taylor. On a side note , do we ever see the chief speak when he isn't being a posterboy?
One comment I heard said that normal attrition would allow the 18 officers to stay under the present budget. Anyone know for sure?

Terms of the grant specifically prohibit this.
