Title: Hey Congressman, why so secretive?
Post by: tim huntzinger on August 07, 2009, 09:38:25 AM
Say what one will about how eeeevilllll the Democrats lining up behind communized health care may be, but at least they are having forums and town meetings at places and times that the average voter can attend.  Over at His Checkered Pantedness' website, it appears 'Sully' is choosing his venues very very carefully (http://sullivan.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=140896).  What a chicken-lipped midget!

Ha! Well since most of the meetings are at safe GOP clubs, you can bet that will be the case!

Hmmm??? I think your criticism is a bit misplaced.  There's several lunch dates on there and a telephone town hall at 7pm on the 25th, what ever that is.  I'd say he's getting out there quite a bit and not hiding after the public humiliation of his recent stint at BFC.

And looking at the 'Town Hall' meetings of others in the OK delegation he is not out of line.  What a fraud and a sham!  Most people 'work' during the day.  And I do not consider His Royal Checkered Pantedness giving some stupid canned fillibusters in front of the mashed potato circuit a public forum.  These doofuses are on our payroll and it is insulting that such fare are being used to demonstrate their public outreach.

Based on that assessment of the Oklahoma delegation, why did you focus in on Representative Sullivan then?  I would venture a guess that most all Congress(wo)men and Senators keep similar speaking engagements while they are out of session.

I agree, our district could have better representation, but it's rare for this seat to draw any sort of real opposition from the Democrats and any primary bids are token in nature only.

Are you still pissed off about the pants, Tim?  Seems like your issues with Congressman Sullivan are a bit personal.

About the telephone Town Hall:  I've heard that they keep you on mute, you can submit questions, and the may get answered.  It's pretty locked down, and of course, no plaid pants.  Plaid is supposed to be "in" this year, btw.

Que the retaliation, then Know Nothing complaining about people attacking him, then the thread ends up totally worthless and gets locked.  So lets skip that step and just move on. . .

Yes, most people work during the day.  Yes, I would love to have a meeting after 5:30 at Joe Mamma's with my Congressman.  But that doesn't make him secretive.  It makes him a politician pandering to his base: conservative old Republicans who can attend meetings in the middle of the day and likely won't confront him or embarrass him to post it on YouTube.  I'd prefer something else but it isn't exactly secretive.

Call and attempt to setup an appoint or another town hall meeting with him.  Take off work if it is that important and attend one of this meetings.  Call in to the open call-in meeting.  If none of those avenues works for you and you want better action:  then whine on the internet.  Or skip all of the above and just vote against him next election.

Well, we can't offer to take him out and buy him a beer after work anymore.

I could not think of something that sounded like 'so serious' that started with 's'.  And you can call it whining if you want.  But that is just whining about someone whining so there you go.

Nik....thanks for the post,

Good link. Disabled Sully needs to be outed. What a careless right wing elitist pig.

The guy has alcoholism. Nobody notices the Dumbya syndrome?

Love these comments:
These Republicans are suffering from "Obama Trauma." They awoke one morning to realize they were no longer the establishment and they've not been able to absorb the fact–in short they are clinging to their delusions, aided and abetted by a terrible television and newspaper inability to credit the Obama administration and the Congress with their many accomplishments... What a sad day, and what it says about the mental health of many Americans, I don't know. I fear for ourselves.

Comment by jjmm — August 8, 2009 @ 3:37 pm

Why is Mr. Sullivan spreading disinformation and bearing false witness against his neighbor? He should be held legally accountable for doing so, and since he advertises that he is Roman Catholic, his church ought to hold him to account for this sin.

Comment by Sensible Joe — August 8, 2009 @ 3:42 pm

Sullivan shouldn't even be allowed to sit n Congress-a complete moron.

Comment by Eric — August 8, 2009 @ 4:20 pm

Let's all just remember — the Republicans (as Sullivan is only an example) now only use negative attacks and spurious questions. There is no serious attempts to work with, compromise, engage, or offer serious alternatives to the bills generated on a host of issues in Congress.

Remember that. This is simply destructive politics. The party of NO. No reason, no thought, no ideas.

Comment by Mark — August 8, 2009 @ 4:42 pm

Let's call the "birthers" what they are: racists who cannot accept the fact that the country elected a black man for president. Whether Congressman Sullivan believes them or not, he at the very least is pandering to them for political reasons. If he does believe, then he is absolutely not mentally fit to be a U.S. congressman. Either way, he and my U.S. Senator, James Inhof, make me ashamed to admit that I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Comment by fRANK — August 8, 2009 @ 4:56 pm

These chumps, Inhofe, Coburn, Fallin, Sullivan, Cole etc. continue to hinder the economic development needs of this state and this city by their lack of profesionalism and dedication to good government. Shameful what they are engaged in. No condemnation of these violent undertones and the scary thing is they get re elected.

It isn't on Sullivan's official list but he is going to be speaking at the Hispanic Chamber luncheon this month.
