"The State newspaper in South Carolina first reported this morning that Sanford had spent the last six days in Argentina not, as his staff had previously said, hiking the Appalachian Trail."
Soooo, he wasn't on the Appalachian Trail, he was on Argentinian Tail. hmmmmmm.....
(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Ed, there's an established thread for GOP antics...."Not Quite Toe Tappers, But Close"....this breaking news which actually started early in the week and went unattended to by the idealogical rigid at TNF, can be found in that thread.
There's so many of these sleeze balls out there , it's easier to combine the thread ....
Gee. Surprise, surprise surprise. Could have been a serious presidential candidate. Now, he won't even keep his job.
So long, dude.

Sizzling: Mark Sanford's Evengelical GOP Fundy Chairwoman of State Board of Ed is allegedly an Internet Pornographer. She is an executive committeewoman of the S.C. Republican Party, as well as the woman responsible for drafting the party's education platform. Maybe some of the porn takes place in Argentina.
This looks more like an Onion parody...
Sanford admits victory over Stephen Colbert's sister. Bwahahahaha...

Politics is sometimes incomprehensible and weird. I expect that by tomorrow morning, someone at Faux News will declare that this is an example of the failure of the Obama administration in concert with Harry Reid and all us socialist-communist-anarchist-fascist-somnambulist Democrats.

Unlike I, who declare South Carolinians dumber than Oklahomans. ;D

No need for Faux News to declare anything. You beat them to it. I think the funnier thing is how Stephen Colbert makes a living insulting right leaning folks, and then audaciously believes they will turn out to vote for his sis.

I thought Stephen Colbert was just another Bill O'Reilly clone. Are you suggesting there's more to his show than straight news?

It's South Carolina....there are no expectations of anything there....
I'm going to assume that the GOP electorate came out to vote against the other candidate with the thought "Yes, our guy cheated on his wife and left office in disgrace but at least they haven't proven this Republican is a pedophile. Tough to vote for a pedophile."
The affair is hardly the whole story on this yahoo.
He used state funds to travel to see the lady, in South America. While he did repay that money, it was a year later and only when forced to do so.
Not only that, Mr fiscally conservative on TV took had his state airplane take him to haircuts and birthday parties. Which by the way not only looks bad, it was illegal in South Carolina.
Then there was his completely disappearing from his job for a week and then claiming he was hiking when he was again in Argentina. The governor of a state skipped out on his job for a week. Not a vacation, he just disappeared.
Lately there's his repeatedly breaking into his ex-wife's home to the point she files a criminal complaint.
This is the kind of people the Republicans elect today. The GOP decent into irrelevancy continues. The party has been high jacked by radical Tea Party idiots and is being run by scam artists like this scumbag.

First of all, here's Swake at hearing the election returns.

More importantly is the degree of dumbness of posts like this. I you follow the thinking through, it's okay that democrats elect impeached former judges (Alcee Hastings), morons (Hank Johnson/Cynthia McKinney), or moral degenerates like Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd or even Clenis. There is no expectation of them to behave otherwise, so its not an attention getter when they assume office or even run for president. Heck, BJ Clinton engages in sexual activity with a subordinate, lies about it, sends his hapless wife to defend him, and he is just as popular today as ever. In short, decency doesn't matter to dems, because they don't campaign on it.
I see this somewhat differently, Guido. I fully expect Democrats to think with something other than their brains. It's what we do occasionally, but the difference is that we don't claim to be paragons of virtue, appearing in church on Sunday with a photographer in tow, or prominently displaying a cross on our lapels. (Yes, this is an overly broad brush, I know.) We don't have a former Speaker who sanctimoniously condemned Bill Clinton while carrying on an affair outside his own marriage.
I don't get too excited about people acting like people. It's the hypocrisy that rankles, regardless of which side of the aisle.

I'm not upset, I think it's hilarious.
Haha, now he doesn't even want to discuss his 'inner-family conversations' with Fox News, except to ponder 'it is what it is'.
Classic. Then they joke around about 'Is this Fox News or the National Enquirer?'.
Duh. Don't we all know the answer to that question?
