I need about 250-300 square feet of grass sod. I was thinking about zoysia grass since it is a shady and high traffic area. Any recommendations?
For that little space I would seed, but now isn't the best time for seed to take before the summer heat.
My neighbor installed zoysia a few years ago and based on his installation I wouldn't recommend it. Our fescue lawns have been bright green since late March and his is just begining to show color.
You said you have a shade yard, for that I would install fescue and overseed with blue grass. Be sure to fertilize in the spring and fall, but not during the growing season in the summer.

Thanks for the response. I tried fescue seed and watering often. The grass started to grow like little hairs but then it mostly went away. I think because it is a high traffic area.
Fescue seeds will really wither in the coming heat. I finally got some dirt and grade work out of the way yesterday. My dirt work guy suggested sodding with Bermuda even in a shady area as it will tolerate the heat, but will fade out under shade with time. He said it's cut thinner and won't appear as "chunky" since I've got sections to sod, not an entire yard. He said then you over-seed the Bermuda w/ fescue in the fall and the fescue will grow in as the Bermuda fades. He pointed out it's also a hard time for fescue sod to get started unless you are rigorous about watering it every day.
I thought that was an interesting solution.
Bermuda is probably the best lawn grass for Oklahoma since it is vigorous and can stand the heat and drought. I just don't like that it is dormant for so long after frost and into the spring.
Conan's solution is a good one. You can also overseed perenial rye in the fall so that you have a green yard all winter and into the spring until the bermuda comes back to life (about the same time that the rye gives up from the heat).
I have a zoysia front yard and it is like walking on pillows.
Will that grow in shaded areas? I hate my grass. It's Bermuda I think and looks like crap.

I'm also interested in getting a load of topsoil or compost to put on my lawn. (To smooth it out after getting a sewer line replaced...and having my entire back yard dug up!) Any recommendations for topsoil or compost to level / smooth a yard in preparation for sod?

You can do any of the above options. For best results, have a layer of topsoil put down, have the sod delivered and installed. There's several sod farms out in the river flats of Bixby. Steve's is the only one I can think of by name right now.
