Title: Midtown MET
Post by: Nic Nac on May 05, 2009, 02:15:00 PM
Has there been anymore talk of a Brookside MET location?  At one time the Albertson's (Food Pyramid) parking lot was discussed.  It seems like midtown is about the only part of town not covered. (I have not had great luck with the city recycling service and prefer to take mine in.)

Thanks MET!  Great service, I would just like to see a midtown location.

Me too. I just don't have the money to open one yet.

The Food Pyramid lot owner guy is receptive, as is the shopping Center people at 51st and Harvard.

I am just struggling to make a budget these days. The economy has dramatically hurt recyclable pricing and I can't afford to lose any more money this year. I have never made a profit, but also have been a good jobs program for workers with disabilities.

I also want to see city-wide curbside collection of recycling. To some degree, the city councilors have been wonderful to the M.e.t. and somewhat cool to the idea of stepping up curbside collection. As odd as it seems, if we build a few more centers, it might work against us taking the next step.

Micheal,

Thanks for the response and for the great service to the Tulsa area.  I see the delima there.  I am hopeful that the right balance can be reached between the services.  The end result is more tulsans recycling!  Best of luck in the challenging economic climate.

What can be done with cereal boxes, beer boxes, (paperboard & cardboard)

yes, i see on your website to take this to Sand Springs or B.A.

Why are there dumpsters there and not at one met facility in Tulsa?

I've seen you say in the past, to ask a business to handle this for citizens...grocery store or whatever.  Do these businesses pay or get paid for these items to be picked up?

I had a ton of cardboard after moving, which I did drive to Sand Springs, but that seems counterproductive to drive 20 miles round trip to recycle them...

What are the chances of a dumpster or two at a met facility in Tulsa happening and if that  is not possible could you start a 'recommended' list of places that will take your paperboard and cardboard?

What do you do with yours?

I've never understood this or why these materials cannot be picked up curbside.

Speaking of Midtown recycling.  I just moved there to the Renaissance neighbourhood and I had a green recycling box in my garage.  I asked if it was used for something currently to people that weren't in the neighbourhood and they said it was for a discontinued service.  But every few days I see some neighbours with those green boxes out by the curb, can someone give me more info on this?

Tulsa, but the spell checker on this thing keeps trying to correct me when I spell it neighborhood.  And I like to clean up all the red lines before I submit.

I must have the queen's english version of firefox.
