That's a nice one. I have been collecting mayfest posters for the last few years. I would also like to see this in a straight on shot.
I saw that on the news this morning. I shouted: "Hey! I know that guy!". My dog looked at me, and then proceeded back into her restful slumber.
Oh well. Congrats! Looks beautiful.
Yeah, what trogdor said...
Ta-da:
Hmmm, gold paint...
Scanned and set up as the poster.

Stunning.
Thanks Artiest.
Any chance of getting the print on canvas? It's pretty enough that I'd love to have it framed and hung.
Thanks for the compliments all...
Its now the property of Mayfest, all rights reserved, etc. etc. You would have to ask them for a printed version on canvas. Which is a neat idea though that they may want to consider in the future.
I usually have no interest in Mayfest's poster, but that's really cool. Great work!
Tulsa's MayFest Rockz- Hey, May 1st kicks also off the week long Mayfest event in Fort Worth, Texas in Trinity park. A radio & TV station crew do a tug of war across the Trinity River. The winners stay dry. It's a wild time down there.

Holy crap...it's Harry Carey:
"Hey!! If the moon was made of spare ribs, woudja eat it?"
I like the poster.
I am a fan of Mayfest but I wish it was bigger and I miss the main mall.
Fort Worth Mayfest cancelled...
April 30, 2009
Today, the Tarrant County Public Health Department issued a statement urging the cancellation of organized events, including Mayfest that are designed to attract students from the Fort Worth Independent School District.
Because of the current public health crisis and the emergency and disaster declarations by the federal and state governments, large outdoor public gatherings have been deemed unsafe, and the City has decided to cancel this year's Mayfest event, as well as several other events this weekend. The City regrets that this action must be taken; however, in the interest of public health and safety, this directive is necessary. Please know that this decision was made after extensive consultation with state and local health officials. The effect on Mayfest was clearly communicated including the impact on the volunteers, service organizations and ultimately the community agencies that benefit from its proceeds.
This action follows an official determination April 26 and 29 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the State of Texas, respectively that a public health emergency exists and a declaration of a state of disaster as a result of confirmed cases of Swine Influenza A. In addition, on April 30, 2009 based on the presence of three suspected cases of Swine Influenza A and one confirmed case, the Fort Worth Independent School District closed all district schools and strongly recommended that District students stay at home.

I like the Blue Dome festival, reminds me of Mayfest many years ago. It's great when you have the time to hit both festivals. Mayfest just seems a bit sterile or too polished for me.

Super quote:
"Hey, if you were a hot dog, and you were starvin' to death, would you eat yourself? I know I would! First I'd slather myself with brown mustard and relish; I'd be delicious!"
Mayfest is going to feel a lot different this year too. There are 4 indoor galleries (up from two just two years ago) and the siteplan is more spread out to better accommodate the neighboring businesses and make it less crowded.

I agree, the blue dome festival is more fun for me, its all local artists, which is what Mayfest used to be, better food, no stupid tickets to buy.
BUT....... I must also go to Mayfest too, because they have that cinnamon roll truck, gotta have me one of those.
Any posters going to MayFest? Bring along a boat. :D
Mayfest is more than a week away. The long-range forecast calls for warmer and drier temperatures for nect week, but who knows?
I think Mayfest should receive farm subsidies since we seem to ensure rain each year.

You may need a jet to get here. Does Omaha have a Mayfest? Stay there...even if they don't, please, stay there.
I'll be there. If you find me, I promise to acknowledge you.

Yes, but normally if a wet pattern sets up it sticks around all summer. Remember the soggy year of 2007? Tulsa almost floated away.. Fort Worth, Texas is having their Mayfest right now, I believe it will end there on Sunday. It's a great way to spend a day with the kids.

OMG! you mean to tell me another city in the world has something going on?! WOW thanks for that. I would have never guessed lol.
Duuude you are freaking weird lol.
I got a margarita at mayfest last year, and they wouldn't let you leave this specific designated drinking pen until you finished it for some reason. But then at night you could walk around certain areas with a beer. Why is that?

Just the fest or are they cancelling May in steps to leave the union?

The margarita which you purchased at Billy's on the Square actually contained tequila and it must be consumed in an enclosed area with the proper permits. The beer at Mayfest is 3.2 beer and as such is not considered an "alcoholic beverage." (tell that to the police when they stop you for DUI) so you can walk around with it. There will be a wine tent, courtesy of Blue Coyote Vineyard, this year on the Williams Green and you must stay in their fencing as well as wine is considered alcohol. Thanks for coming to Mayfest!

I heard that they were canceling June. Because pansies bloom in June, and Yankees are pansies.

Which opens up a big can-o-worms about our laws here. If the streets are blocked off I consider it one big enclosed area.

Is there any version of that mayfest poster(that the public can buy) without the brown border?

I second that. I'd also love to have it offered on a different medium, such as canvas.

Nope, but you could probably just mat whatever color you wanted around the center part (black for instance) and frame it up however you like.

Are ya serious? How come they scrubed it, the flu thing? When we lived in Texas we made it to every Mayfest. It's great for the kids and it's great for the adults there is something for everyone. Since I moved out of Texas I have not been to a Mayfest there and the kids are grown and on their own. One year during Mayfest a big storm blew thru I think it was in the year 2000 people ran for cover and big hail stones fell. Texas has it in Trinity Park. That's too bad if it was really cancelled. :-[

I guess so. There's always next year.
Congrats, man. Nice work.
They are moving TheArtist's painting to the Invitational Gallery tomorrow. It's currently in the Kennedy Building.
It's quite... large.
The mural addition he is working on at the crowne plaza is looking good too.
