Hoping to get some opinions, and suggestions...
My husband's b-day is next week and he wants to go for a good steak. So, I am in search of the best steak in Tulsa or the surrounding areas!
We have tried several different steakhouses, and have had mixed experiences...even when the place was highly recommended.
I'm interested in hearing which restaurants that people like for steak. I'm as equally interested in places that y'all have tried and didn't like...
Also, the place doesn't need to be fancy, in fact my darling hubby would probably prefer that he not have to wear a tie!

I am open to any price range, so long as the food is good! We eat at dives, and fine restaurants, and enjoy both! ;)
I like the steaks at the Polo Grill in Utica Square probably the best.
Mahogony's makes a fine steak, but they are too proud of them and price them out of my range. The last steak place I went to was the Cattleman's Steakhouse over behind Drysdale's. It was excellent.
I also like the Spudder, Eddy's, and Freddie's in Sapulpa.
I would avoid the Silver Flame, Outback, and any of the Golden Corral/Western Sizzlen/Ryan's places. At those, you can still see where the jockey whipped them.
I will second Freddie's in Sapulpa....plus, they have FANTASTIC tabouli.
I have never tried the Spudder but I've heard good things.
As far as chain steak houses go, I always felt like Lone Star made a pretty good steak, although, it has been a while since I've been to one.
I think I've been to all of the Steakhouses in Tulsa and I believe Mahogony's is the best. It's expensive but it is great!
I've always wanted to make the offer for someone who asked on TN. One reason I seldom eat steak or BBQ out is that I'm frequently disappointed if it did not come from my own smoker or grill. I'd love to do a catered anniversary dinner for a couple for free. For no other reason than to make their day special. It would not be long on showmanship, but would be long on attention, quality, and flavor.
Let me know if you are interested. I bet I could talk Cannon_Fodder & Recyclemichael into helping out to make your evening the best. So long as it's not next Sat. I choud make this happen.

Eddy's used to be great but don't know whats up with the chef as last time we were there spicing was non existent - thought I was eating hospital food sorry to say. Mahogony is excellent but man o man yes they are pricey and you need to dress up for the occasion. I would kill for a great steak myself closer to TU or even downtown..I get south of 31 st and I get nervous ha..
my personal favorite is The Spudder, but I have heard great things from Does Eat Place on Cherry street.
No doubt that Mahogonys is good, but I think you can get as good or better for less.
I havent been for a while, but Mollys Landing, on the river between Catoosa and Claremore was always very good as well, and a cool atmosphere too, rustic and country, the menus are on a boat oar.
BUT.....the very best in town are in my own backyard.
Is Hari still chef at Spudder?....best Tomato soup eva.
But Mahogany's NY Strip wins out.

Mahogany is my favorite, and one of the nicest restaurants in Tulsa up there with Polo Grill, Warren Duck Club, French Hen, Palace Cafe, and Bodeans.

Go to Brothers Houligan just east of 15th & Lewis. Get the T-bone.
Another great place, and this is going to sound strange, but In The Raw has GREAT steaks. After having a couple people tell me I had to try them, I did, and was not disappointed.

Try Eddy's, 31st and Harvard.
This thread pretty much nailed it. Polo, Mahoganey, and Fleming's (even if it is a chain) are sort of in their own category.
The Lebanese places deserve their own special category. Right now, I think Freddie's is the best of the group. I grew up on Jamil's, but I'm not as happy with them since they moved. Need to try it again. And the aformentioned Eddie's is a good deal and comparable to both.
Also, there are several other places in town that do a pretty mean steak. I like the one at Keo quite a bit. You can't go wrong with one from Brasserie, either. And no thread about steak can occur without a mention of Steakfinger's, downtown. ;)

I went to Eddy's on Harvard a couple of times last month after not dining there for over ten years. It was really good. I thought the steaks were excellent.
Avalon has gone to heck since moving just like Jamil's. Surprisingly, KilKenny's makes a great New York Strip.

What is it with you and mean food? I really like polite steak much better than the mean ones. Does anyone do a steak that's just slightly rude?

Since Rosie's closed, I have not been able to find a place worthy of suggesting to others. But I'm a very picky steak eater.
I've just gotten really good at preparing my own with that triple burner grill on my patio.

Yes, steak and eggs for breakfast and brunch and I've had them for dinner.
They've all been excellent.
I eat mine rare to mid-rare so I can only give my opinion for that temp range. I have no idea how they taste non-cool center.
McGill's has excellent steaks and seafood, not cheap, though.
A different sort of steak house...Shogun, or Osaka hibachi grills. Great steaks and a very fun presentation.
Haven't been to Spudder in a long time, but they were always excellent when I did go.
Seeing Mark at El Rio Verde today reminded me that the steak I had a "Lucky's" was nothing short of heavenly. Worth every penny, perfectly cooked. I should have remembered this in my previous post.

Well, Burger King now has an "Angry Whopper". I wonder what they did to piss it off??
This thread makes me want to go to Freddie's. It's been months since I've been and I'm craving their tabouli and cabbage rolls with a side of steak.
I have to recommend the steaks at Molly's Landing out by the Blue Whale/Catoosa.
The best bargain in town has to be Jamil's. You get an incredible meal for a fraction of the cost of most steakhouses. Your table gets a veggie plate, hummus and pita, taboli, salads, bbq ribs and bologna...and then your steak and potato arrives!
Everyone walks out with a huge "doggy bag," and the steaks are terrific. I think the new location is fine, and the steaks are perfect...and very affordable.
Another surprise is the Shawkat Friday night dinner. If you aren't in a hurry, the meals are great, and you can get an amazing beef tenderloin. (In addition to the hummus, tabouli, and salad.)

I went out to Molly's Landing for a murder mystery thing a few months ago. It was ok, but I didn't think it was excellent.
And Freddie's food is somewhat better than Jamil's, IMO. It's a long way out to Sapulpa, though.
For the price you can't beat Eddie's filet.......
