Title: 60 minutes in the dark
Post by: TurismoDreamin on March 24, 2009, 12:39:15 AM
Earth Hour - http://www.earthhour.org/home/

hOUR Norman - http://hournorman.org/

On March 28th, join the world to conserve energy. They want you to turn your power off for one hour. It's scheduled to happen globally on March 28th between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. (I guess you pick somewhere in between there). Apparently this has roots in Sydney and has hit as close to home as Norman, Ok. They have their own thing called "hOUR Norman" which is actually scheduled to happen on March 29th between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Several businesses in Norman have already voiced their commitment to turn off all the switches and unplug things for the golden hour. They said that last year when hOUR Norman took place, there was a 4% reduction in energy use. Sounds like something the media should try and implement with Tulsa. It seems like an innocent effort.

With springtime Oklahoma weather, we may get to participate whether we want to or not.

An hour in the dark?

Oh, I thought this thread was the President's speech tonight or the Geithner/Bernanke hearings in Congress...
