Post by: Sue on February 12, 2009, 10:57:42 PM
Author Larry Johnson previews Tar Creek, 11:am at the Tulsa Historical Society,2445 S Peoria.  Mr. Johnson spins the true tale of the Quapaw Indians, the world's greatest discovery of lead and Zink, and the making of the oldest and largest environmental Superfund site in America. A small tribe of Indians, the Quapaws, survived civilization.  A group of criminals, the likes of Bonnie and Clyde, found refuge.  The wealth that poured from the ground created the richest Indians in the world and all these events took place in or around Picher, Okla.

The lecture is free and open to the public.  Plan to visit the many exhibits at The Tulsa Historical Society and Museum. Open 10:am-4:pm, Tues - Saturday.
