Title: So Much for Secretary of State
Post by: Gaspar on February 10, 2009, 03:51:47 PM
President Obama has set up his new forign affairs appointees to answer directly to him rather than the Secretary of State. From the UN to the National Security Council, he's dissolved the title of Secretary of State to a lesser cabinet position.

Holbrooke
Mitchell
Powers
Rice

All answer directly to the President.  Hillary got punked.

I know this article is from the toe sucker, but it is nevertheless informative and supportive of your point GAS man:

Obama hasn't dissolved the position.  It's still there and Hillary's in it...even if Dick Morris (whatever) says otherwise.  You should try to be more careful with your language, otherwise you might end up  misleading someone.

Perhaps it is because Hillary intends to be over seas more often?

Dunno.  It does seem odd.

I presume this response was directed at me. First, all I did was point to an article that was consistent with the original poster's point. I was not taking a position one way or the other. And as far as misleading, point to me in the article where Hillary's position as SoS is being dissolved. I read the article to mean her job description, in Morris' opinion, was dissolving.
