DFest should have a shot at getting a really big-name act to headline this year if they utilize the BOk Center. Vote here (//%22http://www.dfest.net/music/2009/next/whosnext.aspx%22) for your favorite artists.
WOW! If that wasn't the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what would be lol.

you should stop huffing the paint. if you are going to launch an ad hominem, at least pick the right tired metaphor.
Why don't you teach him properly then?
[:O]
Who cares about what browser they recommend? And what makes that worth crapping up a thread? If it's so important, start a new thread, Inteller.

It is important, because they want me to jump through hoops to make an opinion. I browsed to the site using Internet Explorer, and the form looks like crap. Given that the majority of internet users use IE, it would behoove them to make the site compatible with most major browsers.

Then start a new thread, instead of crapping up one titled, "DFest 2009: Vote for your favorite artists". Get it?

Wouldn't it best be called an "ad hominem" if I disagreed with your argument and was "attacking you instead of the argument"? I made no mention of whether I agreed or disagreed with what you said. But, to make it perfectly clear, I actually agreed with your first statement.

you just don't get it do you? If a majority of people can't even fill out the form properly, is the vote really even representative of any majority vote?
Here is a news flash:
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/quickiearticleshow/4035274.cms
that's almost THREE QUARTERS of the people coming to the site with a form looking like crap and a smarmy message about getting a "decent browser"......oh yes that is sure to get people to come to your event.
here is some advice to the event holders...lose the holier than thou browser attitude and write a form that can achieve the goals of getting the best acts and the most people to your event.
If you think that you are going to gather a "representative" sample from the internet, then your problem isn't computers, it's research methods. It's a self-selective survey and not statistical, merely a convenience sample.
Who is likely to come to D-Fest? Whiners like you who complain about everything in life that is extraordinary...even web browsers? You aren't their demographic. You've been screened.
I went to D-Fest last year and I've got no less than four browsers, three that get use. I don't demand conformity in my page code or my music...me and thirty thousand others. I somehow think they'll live without your business, Inteller.
Yes, this site should be able to render without problems in IE. There is no excuse for a website with the intended reach of DFest not to be compatible with all major browsers. Especially considering the rest of the site looks fine in IE. How they accomplished that but messed up a simple form is beyond me.
Never the less, I voted!
1. Dfest would by its nature stray away from the status quo if it thought something was "better." Often, imho, dfest thinks different is better. For better or worse. (most times using the word better in a paragraph as a proportion of words)
2. IE is an inferior browser. It fails to follow the browser norms that they help set. That page could be made to work well with IE, but it's annoying that people have to design for that browser because they refuse to adhere to the specifications they set.
3. I use firefox, and the form is truncated to the right on my screen (trying using a decent browser like firef...)

On the merits of the topic. Too many choices! Basically just think of 3 bands I guess. I'll give it some thought while at the courthouse today.
Of the cool kid's stuff, maybe Army Navy, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire...Fruit Bats are touring.
I want to see Beyonce. [:D]

High praise from an expert on the subject. Why don't you tell us who you'd like to see at D-Fest and stop your sobbing about web browsers?
I'll enter it for you.

That was actually being gracious...I know it's probably more like chicken ****, given your title.
Didja think of that one yourself? I've yet to see anything "gracious" from you, get over yourself. Anyone else? 4AD stuff...who'da thought.
I picked Shiny Toy Guns, DJs Recess and Reflex, and Cavedoll (not that Cavedoll would fill the arena, but they were a pretty good group and I wouldn't mind seeing them get more exposure).

just an FYI, nothing on the voting page says they have to fill the BoK arena. That was just mentioned in the OP.

wow, you are a label snob too? [}:)]
Not at all; stop being so insecure. I've got plenty of 4AD vinyl that still gets spins...no Red House Painters, but older stuff (CT, DCD, etc.) mostly. And I still listen to American Music Club which ain't too far off sounding from your RHP.

does it offend you, yeah?
the kooks (they owe us one...)
i dont know where they "copied and pasted" that band list from but it ain't current... the afghan whigs? dulli and the boys have been done for ten years... blink-182, the sex pistols, the smiths, the clash? just makes it all look silly.
I voted for:
The Reanimated Corpse of Warren Zevon
(that would be a great band name)
Yes... this list needs to be culled down a bit.

+1 on Vampire Weekend. I'd bet Morrissey would do it for a case of Doritos...got that new album.

I mean when I voted for Massive Attack it was more of wishful thinking than having any hope they would show up.
I completely forgot about Massive Attack until you mentioned them. The last song I heard of theirs was "Teardrop" when I was in the "chill" room at a rave and I immediately fell in love.
