Title: Is it slow around here?
Post by: tulsascoot on January 21, 2009, 12:38:27 AM
I may not always post a lot, but I am often lurking. It seems that there have been a lot fewer posts here lately.

Am I imagining that, or have some of the members here become bored with this forum?

Or have some of us run them off?

Or is it just in my head (with all that other useless crap)?

Two troublemakers were booted off a while back, and no-one was posting during the inauguration.

I post more than anyone and I've seen a lot longer discussions on a topic as opposed to a lot of short discussions recently. There are a lot of topics 5+ pages long.

The election is over. There's no new river projects. AOX was run off. Friendly Bear is harassing the World posters. Conan is on self imposed hiatus. I've got a job...sorta.

That leaves Guido, Inteller, Cannon, Hoss, AA, Recycle et al to stir up the muck and there's just not much muck right now.

Its time for change. The passing of the baton. A new generation. New values. etc., etc.[;)]

There has been little "news" the last couple of weeks really.  The inauguration wasn't even really NEWS in that we all knew it was coming for months.  Locally, there has been little of anything going on.

I agree, it has been a bit slow.

Someone do something interesting!

I guess we could always lobby for AOX & FB to be unbanned if we wanted quantity.

Give the Obama admin and the new Congress a month or two to get their agendas going.  Let the Oklahoma legislature pass a few more hateful laws and I imagine things will pick back up.

I dont get on here to talk about national or state news,,, unless it directly impacts whats going on in Tulsa. The reason that I see things "going slow" on here is because there hasnt been much going on locally. No new developments announced, at least really controversial ones, no new tax proposals lol, etc. The last flurry of activity happened around the ballpark thing, now that is "argued to death" and underway.

When PlaniTulsa gets to its next phase and the local elections get going I am sure we will see some new activity. Slow economy, slow on chat topics lol.

This week will be the seventh anniversary of our first post on TulsaNow. We have totalled almost 117,000 posts in that time, averaging about 1,400 posts per month.

January 2009 has already had 1,800 posts.

I agree it has been slow around here lately...maybe we need a good fight to get our blood boiling.

Somebody insult someone.

I hate you RM.  In fact, I hate your entire family.  Loath them down to the core!  Except your dog.  Your dog rules.  Well, I guess your wife is nice too.   And your daughter made me chuckle.  Never met your other kid so I shouldn't really judge them.  So I guess I take back the family thing.

And I don't like beards.  Well that's not true either.  But I don't like yours.  It's too, ummm, something.

Recycling sucks!

(I'm no good at this am I?)

Here, I'll make some stuff up to stir the pot as well:

When not working, AA prefers to be called "Sharon"

RM has a dumpster hidden downtown, so he can feed his secret habit of throwing stuff away. It excites him so much that the last two times the dumpster got full, he had kids 9 months later.

CF is really Lawyer David Garrett

WB smells like bass

Hoss hides the fact that he isn't a true Cartwright

TheArtist paid to have himself cloned, so one of him could surf the internet all day

The real reason Inteller doesn't want Target to build near his house is that he was banned for life for touching himself inappropriately while looking at GPS systems

I have been posting here for about 4.5 years now, and this time of year always seems to be a little slower.  I think this is pretty typical for most message boards such as this.  From Thanksgiving through January, I guess people are more occupied with family and other social activities, and have less time for the internet.  At least that is the case for me.
