I know there is a thread under Development but now that is officially open, thought it would be nice to start its own thread.
Officially opened up on Mon, Jan 12th. They had a friends and family night last Fri which consisted of a 10 dollar game card, free appetizer, entree, desserts and drink (alcohol not included).
The appetizer (mozzarella sticks) were IMO very good. Hot and fresh with plenty of sauce. The entree (half rack of ribs with loaded mashed potatoes) was great. Once again, it came out hot, and the serving was more then accomodating. For dessert, (since it was free) we ordered a mug that was full of vanilla ice cream, with chocolate sauce and part of a chocolate chip cookie in it.
EDIT: The menu is quite large ranging from salads to burgers and everything in between. They have chicken, steak and seafood entrees. I can see it as a nice place to take a date, have a couple of drinks, play some games, and have a nice meal.
As for prices...they are in line with other restaurants around town. Appetizers ranged from 5.79-10 dollars. The half rack of ribs was 12.50 with a full rack with 2 sides for 18.89. The dessert was 5.59 with prices ranging from 5.59-10.50.
They have happy hour M-F from 4-7pm and Sun 9pm-11pm. half price domestic draws. (22oz for 3 dollars).
Wed nights are half price game nights. They also have Eat and Play combos which consist of certin entrees and a 10 dollar game card for 15.99 or a 20 dollar game card for 26.99.
They have a huge bar area that is in the shape of a rectangle with seating on both sides and roughly 10 or so plasma or LCD TV's. Look to be in the 42"-46" range.
The games were fun. A good way to pass time if you are waiting to eat. They have lots of games to choose from however they do not have any pool tables. The reason for this is.....the location isn't big enough. Speaking to the GM there, he said the reason for it was this is one of the smallest locations they have ever built and the smallest city they have ever built in. He said it was more or less a trial for them to see if they can compete in a market of this size.
If I had to rate it on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I would give them a 8.5. Service was good, food was great and the atmosphere was unique.
Good to hear! We have a small group planning to meet for dinner there next week.
I signed up for their rewards club or whatever they called it and they emailed me a $10 game card voucher. It's on their website.
Thanks for the review!!

they have a banquest or party room, whichever you want to call it. They refer to it as the board room and I believe you have your own dedicated server and waitstaff. hope it goes well!!
My wife and I drove by there this last weekend. They say it is their smallest building, but it does not look all that small to us. Nice design.
Compared to the D&Bs in Dallas, Denver and Boulder (Louisville), this thing is really tiny. Thanks for the info that they were using this to test in smaller markets. Makes sense to me, but I'll miss the huge rooms full of pool tables and large VR-game installations. The original D&Bs are closer in size to Incredible Pizza. Regardless, I'm pleased a more "adult" entertainment restaurant has been opened. I'll have to check it out this weekend.
I'm excited to try it out. Thanks for the review.

you are exactly right. I remember going to one (I believe in Denver) where they had a floor dedicated to nothing but pool tables. It is not in line with other D&B's but once you get inside, it is quite large if you have never been to one.
I'll have to agree... it's small but loads of fun. Most of the food is good... the chips & queso are merely average, go for the fried ravioli or edamame instead for appetizers. My group traded bites and I can vouch for the pesto chicken pasta and philly cheesesteak being fantastic. The key lime pie and banana foster pie are aces too.
Oh, the GM mentioned to me that Tulsa's D&B will be one of the first in the country to get a Guitar Hero arcade game in a few weeks, if you're into that.
Now, I wonder how long it'll take me to earn enough tickets to get that PS3 in the redemption center. It's only 98,000 tickets...

I played the trivia game which consists of upto 6 players who answer 5 questions. The person who gets the most questions right in the shortest amount of time wins. Maximum amount to win is 60 tickets, and for each addtl player, there is a 10 ticket bonus. I won 810 tickets on this machine alone on 8 dollars! And if you can consistently win on half price wednesday, who knows, it might only cost you 700 dollars to win that 400 dollar PS3!
The beer was over priced.
My opinion was it didn't fit the adult gaming theme I was told to expect.
When I was ready to do something else I stepped outside...I looked around...since I didn't feel like shopping for furniture I went to my car and left.
The staff was very friendly.
Not my thing so I'll never go back.

and I suppose you don't shop for electronics, books, or clothing either.....save that bull**** for your smug clique back home. if you really wanted to do something else it was all within walking distance.
What book store is near d&b? (and that area isn't exactly very pedestrian oriented, not that it's impossible to walk around there, though)

I guess he's thinking of Lifeway Christian Bookstore, though I wouldn't classify it as such.

Did Dave and/or Buster show up for the opening?

I removed the first line from my previous post that said "Not that I want to sound like Inteller:"
It was after 9PM Southie. Like many places in town there was nothing to do but get in my car and leave.
I ended up going farther South to try more of your area.
Louie's was great...always is. Played shuffleboard and had some drinks.
After that I went to Roosters. I'll pass on that one in the future.

you typed "OMG" inteller
Hopefully this one will be better than the one in Dallas. The one in Dallas never seemed to get 'updated'.
No pool? That'll certainly cut into biz.
It'll just be a 'big group' thing I guess with my friends. Never some place I'd wanna go if it's just the 2-4 of us.
What was wrong with Roosters? College buddy owns it. Still need to check it out.

Pssst, Kashmir...that's called stealing.
Mike 01Hawk,
No offense to your college buddy. It reminded me of his other bar. It's not bad, it was just too crowded for me. I'm too old to do the late night bar crowd anymore. Plus the smoke was way heavy.
A group of us went there tonight. Got charged $2.18 for a cup of coffee and it came to the table just lukewarm. The food we had was typical franchise restaurant quality and nothing outstanding. Some guy came by way to often, interrupted our conversation, just to ask if everything was okay. Very noisy with the acoustical quality of the space way to lively. Of course it is obvious this is not a place to go if you just want to have a quite dinner.
Then too, perhaps it was just that I had a crappy day today. At times I do not care for the nuisances of architecture.

No, for real, we went on 2 different Mondays and the waitress told us to take the glasses home, that it was some promotional thing. It was over Christmas break time. My brother has a full set of Harp by now.

Yes indeedy, they do. No pool's a bummer, though. This D&B isn't quite as fun as the larger ones, but given the near-total lack of arcades that aren't overrun by kids in this town, I'll take it.
And I'll agree that the trivia game is good for tickets, assuming you're reasonably intelligent and three or more people are playing. Other games that give you lots for your buck are the horizontally-oriented circular machine where you stop a spinning light (cheap, relatively easy to hit the jackpot, decent ticket value if you just slightly miss the jackpot), the dinosaur game and the game where you stop an electronic bar that rapidly goes up and down a tower.

you acknowledge this isn't the place to have a "quite" dinner, yet you ***** about it. You must have been with Townsend's party. I mean, the *gall* that someone would interrupt your conversation on the nuances of smelling one's farts to ask you if everything was ok.
what did you think this place was, a beatnik poetry lounge?
Things happen. As I inferred it was more than just the noise. Besides, had to check it out and we did and now we know. Would have sent you instead to check it out for us but you were not available. [;)]

This from a turd blossom who gets angry when a place doesn't offer free bread.

That freakin' Gina & Guissepe's on the Riverwalk used to charge for their bread!!!
Although I'm at the Riverwalk quite often, I haven't been in there for a couple of years, so I don't know if they are still that stupid, but they were charging for it!
Dave & Busters is alright. Smaller than I'm used to, but a nice diversion located in the heart of the real downtown Tulsa, 169 & 71st Street.

The address they give puts you in front of some ones houes off of 105th and Sheridan. Pretty sad when they can't get their own stuff right.

Drive to the Best Buy at 71st and 169. Drive behind it. Thar you go.
Alternately, drive south from 61st and Mingo and turn left as if you were going to Mathis Brothers.
6812 East 105th Street South is quite different from 6812 South 105th E. Avenue
Take 169 South towards Texas until you are blinded by the giant LED billboard advertising cheap sofas and smack into the back of the last in a line of stopped SUV's trying to exit at 71st St.
Once you trade insurance information and Walmart flyers, head west on 71st to the first of 100 stop lights between 169 and Memorial, turn right and head back to the north 3.5 blocks to a giant empty field that will be lit by the LED billboard that fried your retinas earlier and turn right. Park and follow the other zombies into endless fun whacking moles and eating fried cheese.

I despise doing the South Tulsa, south of 51st, thing too. With few exceptions, It seems to sap your soul. And I gots me plenty o Starbucks, and better local java fare, here in Mid-Town and downtown. [:D] I can actually WALK to the local starbucks by my house near 41st and Yale. Then speedily high tail it back home on my caffeine high.[:P] Think I will take my laptop and do that today actually.

Except for the Starbucks on Brookside, in Utica Square and in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. I prefer Topeka anyway.
You can keep all the Starbucks down South, I don't mind a bit, I already have to drive by plenty to get to better coffee shops. I called some soc friend to tell me where the DnB was - we sent as scout actually who confirmed that it was stupid packed and not worth trying. We ended up making a quick stop at the White Owl, also stupid packed before eating dinner and drinking at Kilkenny's for most of the evening. Guess it will be a while before I head South.
Well it is packed right now, because everyone wants to try the new thing in town.
Tulsa is like that, it will be several months before Dave and Buster's actually can determine whether or not their new business model (the smaller location size) is a gamble that will pay off long term.
The location, behind Best Buy, is NOT very Tulsa oriented. Tulsans like direct routes, and this business is hidden in a corner behind a larger business (Best Buy).
A non-franchise operation attempting this would not survive.
Their corporate way of thinking with this location was that they could get that big D&B's sign up there facing highway 169. That's why they picked the spot they did.
Celebration Station did the same thing when they came to town, but chose a different highway to locate next to.
And they failed.
But 71st and 169 is the hottest spot in town right now. Good hotels, dozens of restaurants, the Imax theatre, and prime shopping.
--
The one in St. Louis is the same way. Right next to I-70 but you have to drive through a labyrinthine mile and a half of winding suburban sprawl to actually get there.
Why dont we just send all that sales tax money to BA and Bixby since south of 51st seems to be so distasteful.

And while we are at it, why dont we just put up a fence around downtown, lock it up, throw away the key and walk away from that investment and history? We all know downtowns are not important for a city,,, and who wants our city to have an urban environment to live in? We dont need that to compete with other cites. Plus isnt downtown, ugly, crime ridden, full of bums, and stinky? Lets also just tear down the beautiful historic neighborhoods, buildings and areas in mid-town and build cheap homes, strip malls and parking lots so we can have it just like the mall area? Why put any effort into making it more dense, have proper infill, etc. when it can be just like the wonderful, tax generating mall area? Lets have the whoooooole city just like around 71st and up Memorial. Wont it be a great city then!?
The point is Tulsa should be able to offer all types of areas, a place for all types of lifestyles, incomes, age groups, (urban, suburban, dense, open, old, new, quiet, busy, etc). In some areas we are doing well, in some, not so much. You want the areas that are doing well, to keep doing so, even be better if possible. But you should also want other types of areas to do well and be the best of those types they can be. Thats what makes a city great, competitive, and able to accomodate all kinds of people and the different lives they want to lead. Not everyone likes living in mall sprawl, not everyone likes urban, pedestrian friendly density,, not everyone likes new, not everyone likes old.
Whenever we try to make Tulsa a "complete" city and improve those areas in which we are not doing so well, or dont even exist... Those people trying to do so should not get hammered for it and told that what the want is bad, nasty, etc. Or we can indeed play that game and everyone fight and point fingers, call names and find fault. Or like one local preacher on the radio basically said...(cities are evil, suburbs are good).
We should want all the areas of the city, suburban or urban, to be the best they can be.
But I dont have to be a saint all the time. You pick on my part of town,,, that gives me the right to then pick back and not have you b!tch when I do lol. [:P]
Went to Dave and Busters tonight.
WOW!
Totally unimpressed. Lets start off with them being out of just about every beer they have. The bartender kept apologizing saying they were really busy last night. I don't care. The bar manager doesn't let a bar run out of nearly every beer they are supposed to stock. No Bass. No Guinness. No Stella. No Newcastle. No Dos Equis, No ......
The entire place is really loud because of the games, which tends to attract too many kids.
The menu looked good, but we didn't stick around long enough to try the food. One beer (settled on a Corona) and we left. I'll try the place again in a couple weeks after they get settled in, but they have some ground to make up with me.
Hard to beat my neighborhood favorite Louie's! Good beer (Bass is my beer of choice) and good food.

Sorry to nitpick, but as a former Westminster resident, I feel the need to point out that one of these D&B is in *Westminster*, not Boulder/Louisville. But I can understand the confusion what with all these suburbs along the 36 highway. :-)
But having said that, it's cool that Tulsa is getting its own D&B.

You're exactly right! I'd expect to remember better, since I used to live in Westminster (off Lowell) and used to drive past D&B's every day when it and the rest of the buildings (skating arena, hotel) were building built. It's been a while. Bet I wouldn't even recognize 36 anymore.
I liked the Denver D&B's best. Their full-immersion multi-player VR pods were a lot of fun for a group.
We ate at D&B this past Sunday. Arrived at 11:15. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Waited about 20 minutes and nobody showed up to even take our drink order. I saw the people next to us looking around and still had their menus with no drinks. I looked behind us and there were several servers standing around talking. I waited a few more minutes and went to the front and informed the hostess that nobody has waited on us. A few minutes later a waitress shows up and we inform her that the other people were here first. She looks over and says, I will be with you in a minute. Then proceeds to take our order. Then another waitress walks up and they get into a discussion on who is going to wait on us and the other table. Kind of bad for first impressions.
The food was excellent. Hot and very tasty. I tried some of my wife's black jack chicken.
It was so good we went back on Monday. Wanted to get some more of that chicken. Arrived and were again seated right away. Service was really slow even though there was a ratio of employees to customers of about 1 to 3. If they are running that much labor they should be able to provide excellent service. Food was very slow to come out and it was cold. I wonder if it sat there before our server brought it to us. He was not very good. Friendly but not good at waiting tables. He only had 3 and our glasses were empty a lot. Gave him our credit card and he was gone for 20 minutes.
This D&B is really small compared to the rest of them.
If they want to be there long they better figure out their logistics.
