Title: Some recent murals.
Post by: TheArtist on January 03, 2009, 01:27:54 PM
Thought I would share some recent mural work, and a couple older ones I dont think I have shown anywhere. Glad to be back into a more normal routine after that huge Casino project. I am just hoping I can keep busy during this economic downturn. Us artists can be the first to go hungry when times get tough lol. Pretty much my goal this year is to hang in there and get the bills paid. I figure it would also be wise to experiment and expand into a few other avenues, aka. prints, paintings of local stuff, hanging canvas "tapestry" murals that can be sold in local shops or online, portraits, etc.

Here is a dining room ceiling in a south Tulsa home.

Here is a Foyer ceiling done in an Italian style home in Jenks. Just finished this one last week. There was the large, vaulted, foyer ceiling, then the hallway ceilings going off to the left and right that were also painted with a similar look and feel. I really like the lions.

This was also done in the same home on a barrel vaulted ceiling towards the back of the home. I like the way this one turned out. The client kept wanting to add stuff to the mural. I was worried that it might start to look cluttery, but I think it turned out quite nice. All together, the Italian Ceilings above and this one took 3 weeks to paint. Not bad, a bargain at twice the price.[:)]

Here is a "castle" mural we did in a little girls room.

This was on another wall in the same room... memo me, remember to take pics before the kid moves all their stuff back in lol.

Here is a playroom for three little girls. They had a play closet with a window, so we took that and turned it into a "play house". Later wrote their names on the little ovals by the mailbox.

Here is a large dome in an entryway.

This client had a niche at the end of a hallway near the Home Theater. I suggested making it look like a ticket booth and put their last name as the name of the theater.

Before and after.

The client had seen this figure with the quirky look, which I had used in another mural, and liked it. But I had to think of something for him to be "looking" at in this context, so found the "Asphault Jungle" movie poster with Marilyn Monroe looking back at him lol.

I am glad to know you can draw bengal tigers.

I have been wanting a velvet painting of bengal tigers and Elvis playing poker for some time.

Gorgeous work, Artist.  It's always good to know someone with talent.

The murals triggered a distant memory of a Fire Sign Theater piece, a mural entitled "Heroic Struggle of the Little Guys to Finish the Mural."

When those kids are a little older, you may get some repeat business as their tastes change.

Thanks all for the compliments.

As for RecycleMichael and his suggestion of a painting with 2tigers playing poker with Elvis, painted on black velvet no doubt... I cant imagine ever being hungry enough to consider painting something like that lol. However, however, IF you can find me a couple of pics of some tigers playing poker, I might consider it. [8D]

Might I suggest you start your search on flickr lol. I find a lot of my stuff on there. Here are the 2 tigers I found to pull the chariot for instance. [:D]

Oh to have a real skill...

As always, it looks great.  Could you, sometime please, post a picture of something that didn't turn out so well?  It'd make me feel better.   [;)]

Another recently finished job. Its in a "small" guest house in mid-town. Hopefully will get to do some neat stuff this spring in their house next door. Perhaps then I will be able to work my way up to being able to do something in their main house in Vegas. [8D]

I was a little intrepid about using the black on the ceiling. Was worried it might be too bold. But I think it worked out just right with the wrought iron railing and artwork.

Their "guest house" looks almost as large as my house.

Beautiful stuff. Your photography has improved also. Are you using HDR?

This is amazing work!

I would love to have you do something in our new house, but we'll have to wait a few months, have to do other less "extra" work right now.  My daughter would be so excited to have a mural on her wall.

Thanks for sharing!
