Here's my list. I would enjoy reading your's.
Hometown's Resolutions for 2009
Lose weight. I want to drop about 30 pounds.
Exercise. I have reached that point in my life where I really need to do yoga.
Increase Income. I love Tulsa but I've been dipping into my savings for three years so that I can live in our blessed community. Something has got to give.
Wardrobe. For the first time since the Preppy Phase I've been yearning for a Brooks Brother's fix. Or is it Raymond James? Want to work on front office appearance.
Spend more time with those I love. I lost a very dear friend this year and I was once again reminded how precious each day is.
Have fun. I'm a Capricorn, the work sign, and we have to schedule and plan and try real hard to have some fun.
I want to be more decisive but I'm of two minds...Gemini.
I don't believe in astrology because they think there are twelve kinds of people. I believe in numerology where there are only ten kinds of people.
I'm a one, but I married a nine.
1280x1024 at home, 1440x900 and 1024x768 at work... wish my new year's resolutions were higher.
My resolutions-
Mo' money
Better car
Self Actualization
Political engagement
Boat related adventures
Organize mass float on river of TulsaNow posters (whoops! Not a river comprised of TulsaNow posters but on a local river.)
Finish myriad of home improvement projects
Clean the d**n garage!
To be less politicaly correct....
Volunteer my extra time. Leaning towards something animal related like SPCA.
I would love to lose at least 15lbs. Damn bread & pasta!
Expand my brain by reading more. I just bought Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.
Animal Farm is next, then on to Atlas Shrugged.
Learn patience when driving.
I would also like to work on the old wardrobe!
Will be cleaning out the closet this weekend.
HT, did you shop at Brooks Bros @ Utica Square? If so,
you might know my mother. She was the store manager there for years... and the friend you lost this year, was that also someone who used to work at Brooks Bros?
Either way, I'm sorry for your loss.
Happy New Year everyone!
My goals:
To listen more and talk less.
To bicycle and walk more, and drive less.
To think before acting.
To bite back angry, harsh words unless the recipients are truly deserving.
To hug my family more often.
To heed She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed and cater to her every whim. (I just had to throw in a bit of snark!)
Okieinla. My friend was a very dear and sweet lady in Oakland. We are all heartbroken about her. Thank you.
I only shopped at Brooks Brothers once and that was back in Dallas in the 80s. Your mother must have been a very professional person.
I'm kind of torn between dressing up and dressing down. One of the great things about LA is that you guys have stopped wearing ties. You still see ties in Tulsa, though a lot of offices have gone "business casual." It's still a little more traditional here.
My office allows business casual and I am grateful that we don't have to wear a tie (dog leash).
To post more and talk less [:D]

I too get torn between dressing up or dressing down. Inevitably if I dress down, I'm called into an impromptu meeting!
But like you say about LA, I work in an extremely casual environment so I'm grateful that jeans can be a main part of my wardrobe if I choose.

In 2009 I resolve to do better in everything I try & do. I'll give every task my best darn ability. No more sliding by on easy street for me.[B)]
Drink less and stop going out so much. I have to quit acting like a 21 year old since I'm 32.
Save more money (this one never works). Either that, or make more money.
Find more things to be happy about. I'm a true believer that when you think positively, you're happier. I think this last year I allowed a little negativity in my life and it definitely affected my outlook.

Maybe try acting 25. 32 is too young to start acting old. Been there, a long time ago. [:)]

I don't remember my 20's
My resolutions?
Stop smoking- or at least cut down on my current intake of nicotine.
Work out a little more often.
Enroll in and attend classes in everything that interests me at any given time. Who knows? Maybe get a new degree?
And- watch less television!

Good luck on the stopping smoking. I quit in September of 2007 and am happy I did. Problem now is I'm taking that money I'm saving from not smoking and putting it into my new hobby: photography. That's almost as expensive!
2009
1. Finish Photography/Art projects
2. Smoke less cigars and more of my smoking pipes.
3. Find another studio.
4. Cook more at home.
5. Start using the bike I bought at the city auction.
6. remember to refill my ADD medication.
7. Slow down.

So far, so good: I'm down to a half pack each day.
Day 12 of absolutely no nicotine... Cold turkey from 1 jan, no skoal or camel [:(]
But I am feeling healthier for it
I have kept these resolutions so far...
No shearing, beating, or dying of wool.
No tearing down of any buildings.
No talking on a CB radio.
Always obeying the law of gravity.
Watching a little bit of television every day.
Saying a nice thing to a stranger every day.
Wish me luck.

Wait another month. You'll start the coughing now to purge your system. It doesn't hurt, but you'll notice the coughing gets less and less, especially at night while you sleep.
And if anyone tells you that stopping cold turkey reduces the urge, or stopping at all, they are lying. I still get cravings, but get through them. It's a matter of managing willpower and being aware not to put yourself in a position to relapse.
