Title: Hibiscus on Brookside
Post by: ARGUS on December 19, 2008, 12:31:37 AM
A+! Rave.4 Friends Thursday night...9:45...Went to BruHouse...kitchen closed...Brook?.. nah. Sushi...nah. Hey, let's see if that Hibiscus place is open! We walk across street...hell yes it's open and packed! It's poetry night! We are seated in the back which is perfect because we not the poetry type but do enjoy a good vibe; this place had it. 1/2 off bottles of wine too on this Thursday. We were presented with a smile and plantain chips...mmm good. We all ordered and the food was great! Curried/Jerked veggies, Jerked shrimp, fried plantains and a Jerked pork chop sandwich. Leaping horse wine and Pacifico w/ lemon. Server was great! Owner was great! Poetry MC guy was great! The band kicked donkey with some very groovy ala Dread Zepplin.Beck,Zepplin jazz fusion stuff. Everybody there was happy and conversant. Afterwards we stopped in Ida Red for a funky soda pop (Cheerwine for me)window shopped and walked to our vehicles. Nice random foggy warmer night. Go Tulsa! Go Brookside!

I have been several times. Food was great and everyone that went with me enjoyed the place too. Owner was friendly. Rum cake was divine. My only small complaint/suggestion... the decor could use some more tweaking. (hey I am an artist I notice these things lol) Either go more "funky" or "chic", or both lol, but could use that extra touch to really finish the place off and make it a star.

This place is fantastic and they also make the best Mojitos in town. Reasonably priced too!

I had lunch there last Wednesday.  Great food, the staff was friendly and attentive.  I'll go again, too.
