So, to get a decent rate on homeowners insurance, I need to get a monitored burglar and fire alarm..
Anybody have any recommendations?
TnT
Advance Alarm. Located in BA but serve the whole area. Former policemen.
I use Guardian, and I've been pleased with them.
Don't most of these companies just call 911?
They have plenty of false alarms, then expect the Tulsa Police to respond.
My tax dollars support your false alarms.

Sure, but most alarm systems don't have significant problems in that department, at least if the installer isn't an idiot and the company uses decent equipment. A few bad installs make up the vast majority of false alarms.
And they call the homeowner to verify it's not their doing before calling the police. At least a good company does. If there's anybody who immediately calls the police first, they need to have their business model altered by force. [:D]
Does Tulsa not have a fee for excessive false alarm calls that make it all the way to the police/fire department?

TNT hands down. Ask for Robbie Hernandez. Our new house was prewired already. He installed our alarm and hands down was the best installation on ANYTHING I have ever had. He explained in detail what he was doing and why, vaccumed up his mess when he was done. Explained how everything worked, asked us if we had any questions, was super friendly and best of all their price is GREAT. We don't have a home phone, and did not want to get one just for an alarm. They have a system that runs on cell towers or radio freq and it has worked flawlessly. The few times we have set it off accidentally, they called within 30 seconds to make sure everything is ok. They charge 27.99 a month and that includes a warranty so if anything breaks, malfunctions, or anything of that nature, they fix it for free.
Also, from what I have read, they are the only ones who do criminal background checks on ALL of their employees including dispatchers and technicians, not just installers.
No such thing as a good alarm company.
Alarms are a pain.

If you pay for the year, Alarm Relay (//%22http://www.diysecurityforum.com/monitoring/index.php%22) is about $8.95 a month for monitoring.
TNT. Local, Cheap and the Best Customer Service. At least at one time they were the ONLY local monitoring company, the rest farmed you out to a major call center.
I've been very happy with TNT.

While I agree with the sentiment, that does not get me a discount on homeowners insurance. [:D]
Hate to sound like a broken record... but another satisfied TNT customer here :)
TNT most definitely. I'm a mom home alone many nights with the kids. I've used Guardian, Advance Alarms and TNT over the last 10 years . . . TNT is always responsive within seconds if my alarm is tripped; great customer service. Can't say enough good things about them!
