Starting Friday Dec. 5th, Marshall Brewing Co. beers will be available in liquor stores in 22 oz. bottles. If your favorite store is not carrying MBC please advise that it is available through local distribution and to please order for stock. Continue this thread with liquor stores you know have the beer on hand.
Check out marshallbrewing.mobi for up-to-date draft locations.
Starting this Friday Pub Ale will be stocked in mi casa!
Are 12oz btls gonna be available? 22oz gets pretty heavy after two.[;)]

It is tougher than it sounds. You will beg to burp in no time.
Friday happy hour...my porch
I have it on good authority that 12 oz bottles are coming. It takes a different system to produce these bottles and while MBC has taken delivery of the 12 oz bottling line it is not up and running. Look for 12 oz early in '09. In the meantime the 22 oz is perfect for stocking stuffers!
cannon, want to split a case? I'll offer half of my IPA or Wheat for some Ale.

...but, but, then it wouldn't be cold! That would mean I have to wait to drink it. Can you put stockings in the fridge?[:P]

Good news. Gotta love Ranch Acres - knew they would come through on this one. I'll be picking some up tomorrow. Hope their is enough to go around.
Awesome, this is great news. I checked with Ye Old Village Liquor on 41st & Peoria and they are hoping to get some Friday evening.

Ranch Acres has it now--on display directly in front of you as you enter the north doors. I'm enjoying a bottle of the mcNellie's pub ale as I type.
A&M Liquor in BA has it as well.
Got mine from Ranch around noon, they have the Sundown Wheat, McNellie's Pub Ale, and Atlas IPA at $4.99 ea. I have also heard that Owasso Liquor & WIne has it at $4.99 ea.
Coming soon to:
Country Hollow(81st & Yale)
Deep Discount(51st & Sheridan)
Bodega(61st & Yale)
Good Spirits(51st & Harvard)
+2 for the ranch... hit it up tonight for bottles...
santa is givin it out to all the good boys and girls...
Crossing Wine & Spirits, 101st & Memorial by Pyramid.
I got one bottle of each on the way home from work tonight.
Grabbed some of these this evening - everybody at the check out had at least one.
I picked up two from A&M (81st/Garnett). Probably not going to drink on them until tomorrow.
But I did get bored and took a picture of 'em while watching the Jenks/Union game. =]

You like skunky beer too? I see green bottles. At least they aren't clear bottles.
I bought one of each variety available at A&M and enjoyed all 3! I want to love them all equally but I am still partial to the IPA. I think it may be one of my most favorite IPA's, and I've had a few! They each have a character I enjoy, though. Good stuff!

I just noticed that the Grand Vin bottle shop in Utica Square has Marshalls.
Just bought some ourselves. Including some for stocking stuffers.
I just had the Pub Ale for the first time yesterday...very tasty! My new favorite!
Anyone else think the wax dip is simply awesome on the bottles? I look forward to drinking them just to play with the wax!

yes, definitely. its a great touch. It helps make the bottles stick out on the display (which, I'm sure was the point!). I wonder if this is a permanent thing or simply a first batch/special occasion thing. The dipping is all done by hand, so I would be surprised if its permanent.
I do like the wax dip. It adds extra seconds of anticipation while working for your reward - an over-sized beer! The Pub Ale is great! These are going in the gift baskets.

Even at $4.99/ 22oz, that is equivalent to about $16.33/ 6 pack of 12 oz bottles. It's good stuff but it will need to be a treat rather than a regular.

Hopefully the cost will slowly creep down a bit as setup costs are recouped. We'll see.

Agreed. It's good, (at least the Pub Ale and the Sundown Wheat, I haven't tried the other yet..maybe I'll go do that now) but not $5 a bottle on a regular basis good.
Or maybe I should just look into getting a keg of Sundown Wheat and drain that for a while. [:D]
I agree with the general assessment. The bottles are cool. The beer is good. Local is worth more. But at $5 it can not be my regular beer nor my come on over for football I have beer... beer.
I will be happy to contribute from time to time.
It's less than I spend on two imports at many bars I frequent so I don't mind the cost so far. Of course I'd love it if it could be less expensive in the future.
I purchased a mix of the three beers I saw on that display at Ranch Acres and enjoyed them very much.
I got one of each at the Village, there they were $5.09 though. I'd had the McNellies Ale before and it didn't disappoint, the Sundown Wheat was good too, haven't cracked the IPA yet. I agree they are a bit pricy and hopefully when they go to 6 packs the price will come down, a good microbrew doesn't cost anmore than $8-9 a six pack at most so hopefully the prices will be more in line with that.
Burton's Liquor Mart(71st&Sheridan) is now carrying all three Marshall beers at $4.99 bottle. B&B Liquor(71st& Mingo) is also carrying all three, haven't been able to confirm price yet.
Marshall Beer is in Catoosa. A friend confirmed that Cheers Wine & Spirits is carrying all three MBC varieties.
KJ Liquor Store on Southwest Boulevard (near Ollie's restaurant) in west Tulsa has McNellie's Ale and the IPA.

22 oz bottle, not 12. Still pricey, but you're paying for the quality and, well, the still-attaining-economies-of-scale.

Finally tried it too, and it's awesome! The pub ale is great.
Floyd I see your location is Dallas. Are they selling it down there too ?
Also the store I bought it at is selling the bottles for $5.24
Thought that was a little high until I tried it.
Quality over Quantity for sure.
All three Marshall Brewing Co. varieties are being carried by Aspen Wine & Liquor in Broken Arrow. Also, I saw that Sonoma Bistro on Brookside is carrying the 22oz. bottles. The Atlas IPA looked cool sitting on a table next to a gourmet pizza.
I picked up the Atlas and McNellie's Pub Ale at Columbia Package Store near 15th and Delaware. I drank the Pub Ale last night, and wanted to pass along my positive review!
I have a confession to make... as I was buying 4 bottles of Marshall last night (for the TU game) I dropped one and broke it. It was like destroying a painting or burning a book. I feel horrible.

I actually didn't even see it when I was first in there. They are right in front of the registers.
I've tried the Pub Ale & the Wheat and the hype is definitely justified.
Yum.
I just wanted to pop on here and say thank you all very much for the positive feedback! I really appreciate all of your support, but on a personal note I love reading about people enjoying my beer. The thing I love about my job is even when I am having a long tiring day and am about ready to drop, I can get online and read things like "$5.24 Thought that was a little high until I tried it. Quality over Quantity for sure." or "I drank the Pub Ale last night, and wanted to pass along my positive review!" or "I dropped one and broke it. It was like destroying a painting or burning a book. Cheers-

Take heart in the fact that I pimp your beer whenever I can. The Pub Ale is just what one would expect... a good beer to sit down with in front of the TV, with a friend at the bar, or while throwing some cards at home. Strong enough that you aren't in danger of feeling like it's water, but certainly potent enough that after 2 pints you realize you've drank "real" beer.
The IPA is a good IPA, too hop filled for my normal consumption but good next to a fire on a cold night. (this is where IPA connoisseurs go "it's supposed to be well hopped idiot!")
And while wheat beer is not really my thing either, you manage to craft it with enough fruit notes to be a good wheat but enough BEER taste to still be a good beer. If that makes sense.
Anyway, I'm a big fan. I take pride in local products when they are on par with other products. When they are among the best available you're damn sure I'm going to support it. I look forward to the next seasonal brew... any hints on what that will be?
ALSO, I usually keep a few barrels on tap (1 home made root beer for the boy, 2 home brew [got too lazy to bottle it all], 1 other). Is/will Marshall available in 1/2 or 1/4 barrels for consumers anywhere in town?
Also also... odds of getting an Oktoberfest actually at Tulsa's Oktoberfest next year? I could alternate between pitchers of Spaten and Marshall. In fact, it sounds like a damn fine plan to me. I'll be the one dressed like a giant yellow chicken drinking beer through a beer line run to the beak.
And finally, one last question... any grand plans going forward? Statewide ambitions? Regional ambitions? Or just play it as the cards come up? Just curious, so feel free to ignore questions on your business side (but you HAVE to answer questions about the beer[:)])
Oh, and on a personal note, Marshall beer is the 2nd best beer I had last year. I managed to brew an Oktoberfest that was fantastic, I'll declare it the best beer in Tulsa if I can replicate it next year (which I won't be able to). [;)] I also like Choc beers, a fine drinking beer but they lack the character that Marshall brings to the table.
Anyway, damn glad you brought the art of commercial beer brewing to Tulsa. Posts like this are what you get for making fans.
In answer to your questions in no particular order....
You can buy our beer in 50L(13.2gal) kegs or 1/6 BBL(5.19gal) kegs at liquor stores.
Chances of getting on at Oktoberfest, lets just say I am trying.
Next seasonal brew will be Marzen Lager and it will be available in March. When I brewed the Oktoberfest I let one batch sit back in the lagering tanks to mature longer and will release it on draft only in March. Traditional Oktoberfest beers (Marzens) were brewed in March and release at Oktoberfest time, the longer maturation time helps the flavors to fully develop. I wanted to try this, so I did it backwards. It tastes really good!
As far as grand plans for going forward, we definitely have them, but not on a fixed timeline. The next big step will be a 12oz. package. So hopefully 6 packs of the 3 beers now available, plus the Old Pavilion Pilsner will be available end of February beginning of March. It all depends on how quickly I get my big line installed and get all the packaging material for it. Once we get that going then we can begin focusing on regional distribution. We are available statewide now, but we will start to push that more in the immediate future. I would say the first half of this year we will start looking at Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri distribution. Then next on the list would probably be Texas. First things first though, we want to get the 12oz. bottles out and get a bit of stability in our home market before jumping state lines!
Hopefully 2009 will continue in the direction 2008 left us! Thanks again to everyone who is out there supporting us.
Cheers,
Eric Marshall
I'm not sure I should be excited about an alcoholic beverage but dammit...I'm excited.
Congratulations on such a great product.
I tell EVERYBODY!!! Have even bought to give to coworkers, etc...so that they can get on the bandwagon!!
Great products!!
I'm such a degenerate Marshall's fan now, that I even traded one of my wine racks to one of the local liquor retailers for some more McNellie's pub ale.
Great stuff Eric, keep it up!!

Welcome back Conan!
I buy Marshall's as gifts for people to get them hooked..of course I always have to get some for me.
Last 3 bottles I had this week (1 of each that I can get of course!) were each better than the 3 I bought before them, which were better than the 3 before that. Am I insane or just crazy?
Yum.
I was in another liquor store in Broken Arrow that I use off and on, and mentioned the Marshall beer and there was another man there that joined in the conversation about how great the beer is. The man working there got out his order sheets and was looking for it and was going to get it in stock but could not find it listed. I have since found out that it is under MB Brewing and am going to let him know so his store can enjoy the sales numbers his competitors are. Thanks Eric for the brew and word of mouth can make or break a company, and just to let you know...I have a BIG mouth.
Went to Oscar's Sat night with a group of friends and tried both the Pale Ale and Sundown Wheat. I am not too fond of darker beers but drank the pale ale none the less! The sundown wheat though was AMAZING! 5 dollars a pint is more then I normally spend on a beer, but it was well worth it. 3 pints and an hour later, I felt great!
Now a question or two...
1. Does Parkhill at 51st and Lewis sell Marshalls?
2. If so, which ones do they sell? Was talking to a coworker yesterday about Marshalls and told him I would pick up a couple for him. And a few for myself too!
All this talk of beer is making me thirsty, and it is umm 751 in the morning!
Parkhill's carries all three Marshall Brewing Co. varieties.
Atlas IPA - very approachable India Pale Ale
Sundown Wheat - American wheat, spiced like a Belgian wheat with coriander and orange peel
McNellie's Pub Ale - English-style Best Bitters, just like you would find in a pub in England
I believe the Parkhill's price is $4.46 per 22oz. bottle.

thanks! I will pick up some tomorrow after work. Haven't tried the Pub Ale, but will give it a shot! thanks again.
Just picked up four bottles (1 of each plus one more of the McNellies since most of the people I'm hanging with tonight are too much of a pansy to like the IPA or Wheat) and plan to check them out this evening.
I do like the wax tops. Gives them character.

I picked some up last night as well from Parkhill. 1 IPA, 5 sundown wheat and 2 of the mcnellies pub I think. None the less, will hand a few out to some co workers to try.
They only had about 4 more bottles of sundown wheat, about 3 of IPA, and probably 6 left of mcnellies...how often do they get shipments in??
Most people seem to recoil at the $5 price point on the 22, until they drink it.
The way I figure, is I'd likely spend more than that on inferior domestic beer and a tip if I were at a bar.
Don't let yer head swell, EM, but it's worth every penny to me.

Lucky's Restaurant on Cherry Street is now carrying Marshall Beer in bottles!
Well I had to get some from Garnett Plaza Liquor Store#8206; (31st and Garnett) while on the way to a friends tonight to share some with him, freaking $5.99 a bottle. Crazy prices at that place.

There is a difference between paying for local/quality and just plain getting ripped off.
I REALLY hope that the six packs, when they make the liquor stores, are the same price (or close to it) as other high quality brews. I might pay a dollar more for a Marshall's six pack than say, a six pack of Sierra Nevada or Guinness, but no more than that.

Served at an eating establishment always costs more than take-out from the liquor store. $4 to $5 per pint is about normal for quality craft beer in pubs etc. That's one reason I limit my trips to pubs; I can't afford to go often.
edit: I got my reply on the wrong side of the quote control

Your reply makes my case!
Assuming you mean a 16 ounce pint, a $4 pint is 25 cents an ounce. At 25 cents an ounce that would equal $5.5 for a 22 ouncer.
At $5 a pint that is 31.25 cents an ounce. That would equal $6.875 for a 22 ouncer.
I suppose paying $8 is only a rip off to those who think that is too much. I happen to be one of those people that thinks that $8 is too much.
Couple of thoughts on what has turned into a price discussion:
Marshall Brewing Co. does not set prices to the consumer. Under the three-tier distribution system in the State of Oklahoma, beer passes from producer to distributor to retail.
Hideaway Pizza is a fantastic local success. Their choosing to offer Marshall beer is a match made in heaven. Local pizza and beer! I think they would prefer 12 oz bottles, but they are simply not available at present.
My understanding is that six packs of 12 oz. bottles will be in line with pricing of other craft breweries such as Full Sail, Rogue, and Left Hand.
Wine is always considerably more expensive in restaurants than liquor stores.
Finally, with craft beer you are paying for a unique experience. What is the most money you could pay for a bottle of wine at a restaurant? In most cases hundreds of dollars. I for one, have no problem paying $8 a bottle of high quality craft beer enjoyed with some of the the best pizza in the region and both Oklahoma's own. Ounce for ounce for high quality beer provides me a much cheaper experience than high quality wine. Support our local economy.
Oh how I loath the 3 tier distribution system. It doesn't help the Oklahoma producer or the Oklahoma consumer at all. It helps the retailer somewhat I suppose (ease of doing business, only a few choices of who to buy from). Most of all, it helps the legally mandated 3rd set of hands - the distributor. It guarantees a margin on every bottle sold whether a distributor is needed or not.
What does that add do you think? 10-20% to all alcohol sold in Oklahoma?
Throw in the BS "non intoxicating beverage" and other blue laws. Argh. Really, have any of these laws ever done the consumer or the public any good at all?
If I'm in the mood for a craft brew, price is the last thing on my mind.
I think people forget they are paying for basic service and atmosphere when they order alchol out rather than drinking at home. Hideaway has a lot higher overhead than I've got at my house.
had an IPA at white owl this weekend. cost me $8.00. I was totally satisfied. it's good brew.

I was there last night. They didn't have any Sundown Wheat. I was sad. :p
$8 for a 22oz of good beer is a steal compared to $6 for a 12oz of piss there.
Riverview Wine & Spirits in Sand Springs is carrying Marshall Brewing Co. 22oz bottles in all three varieties at $4.99 ea.
Anyone know if the beer is available in liquor stores in Sapulpa?
I am working on posting a master list of liquor stores that carry Marshall soon. Any updates will be welcomed. Also, remember that Marshall Brewing Co beers are available to all liquor stores in NE Oklahoma through distributors. If you favorite store is not carrying the beer request that they do!

$170 to $180 I believe.
$172 for 13.3 Gallon ("1/2 barrel") is what I paid. Add in tax and keg deposit (if applicable, I always have one to swap out) and you had better figure on $200. But the base price makes it around 11 cents an ounce. Showing what a significant expense bottling can be to a small brewery. . .
Ranch Acres also has 1/6 barrels for sale for ~$75 which is similar in size to a cornelious (soda) keg.
On a somewhat similar if not opposite point - Choc has started a DRINK LOCAL marketing campaign that is pretty cool. I bought a couple of their new "signature beers" yesterday (hold on there Eric, I bought 13 gallons of Marshall's and 66 Oz of Choc, I'm ok). They also had stickers, which will be on my keg fridge. Hoping for a Marshall sticker and/or tapper in the near future. [:P]

Nice, my wife got me one of those choc signatures (#2 I think) in a Valentines assortment. It was great.

Jarboe, LDF, Action, Central, all of them. Your best bet in Tulsa will be Jarboe or LDF.

Get it and I will come visit!
You should go visit anyway. Nice little hole in the ground, as it were.
It's a great bar. Everybody I've dragged there likes it.
Heh, I used to go there often. I even watched it burn from my 15th floor apartment in Center Plaza about 21 years ago.
I keep meaning to go by after work, mebbe one night soon.
