What will the 2010 Census say about the Tulsa metro area?
Start making guesses on where you think the population of Tulsa and some of the surrounding communities will be in 2010.
I have posted the 2000 numbers along with 2007 estimates, in parenthesis, for each city.
Tulsa: 393,049 (384,037)
Broken Arrow: 74,859 (90,714)
Owasso: 18,502 (26,352)
Sapulpa: 19,166 (20,908)
Bixby: 13,336 (20,091)
Sand Springs: 17,451 (18,450)
Claremore: 15,873 (17,312)
Jenks: 9,557 (14,879)
Glenpool: 8,123 (9,545)
Coweta: 7,139 (8,867)
Catoosa: 5,449 (6,571)
Collinsville: 4,077 (4,743)
Hopefully our MSA will be even closer to the 1,000,000 mark.
As you know the city of Tulsa lost alot of people Tulsa's population fell to around 382,000. They moved to the other cities or the Tulsa "burbs". The result will be not much change in the metro area since the same people will be just shuffled around the metro area, instead of getting newcomers from other states. Omaha has a larger population than Tulsa, but Tulsa has a bigger metro area than Omaha. Tulsa's strong economy will attract new residents. I think the latest numbers are Tulsa has a metro population of about 800,000+.[:)]
oh I'm sure if the population is down the Tulsa world will blame it on HB1804 or the burbs or some other crap.
I'm not a betting man but if I were I'd say we will be down by the time they start counting in 2010.
53 Tulsa, OK MSA Green Country OK 2007 est: 905,755 2000 census: 859,530
My guess would be 915,000. Population will go up a bit as the economy cools elsewhere and holds the line in Green Country and Oklahoma.

yes but tulsa always lags in the nationwide resession. you'll probably be right, but I'm guessing by 2012 things will start to suck around here just like it did in 2002.
Ahhh, true to form.

Don't leave out Skiatook. It's larger than Collinsville but seems to always be left out of metro lists...
2000 population: 5,396
2007 estimate: 6,571
good call...sorry.
