Also, anyone going to take part in the McNellies Pub run?

That sounds great. I think it's super you want to take up running. I run alot but not for fitness I like to run for the enjoyment of it and I do training for races. I started running in 1980 after I moved from Michigan to Fort Worth Texas and found the Trinity jogging trail, I started jogging and loved it, I was doing some heavy mileage. Running gets to be like a drug you have to do it or you don't feel right. I ran a 5K and came in 2nd place back in July. We have some races coming up for Turkey Day that I'm planning to enter (it's a 10K). Once you get bit by the running bug your hooked. Some people enjoy cycling (or running and cycling) but I never could get into cycling I like running much better.[:)][8D]

Sadly I can no longer run because of my knees. Cycling is much easier on the knees but I sure miss my running days, I felt so much better.

I have been getting a sharp pain in my right knee when I did a run of over 10 miles, but that problem seems to have cleared up, I don't want to push my luck, I never ran a 26 mile marathon. Back when I was young in the mid-1980's I was addicted so bad to running that I took my running gear along to work with me when I worked at Ametek in Grand Prairie, Texas, and I drove after work all the way to the Trinity jogging trail and did a 4-5 mile run, I was married at the time and my wife never liked me going straight from work to the running trail in Fort Worth, she wanted me to stop home first but if I did that I'd hit heavy traffic. It was a easy shot straight down I-30 to University Drive and the jogging Trail. I did that just about daily unless the weather was bad or I had other business to take care of, as if that was not enought I did 10 mile runs on weekends, sometimes I'd go 14 miles both days Saturday & Sunday. I  loved running on the Trinity Trail the warm breezes in your face, and wildlife all over and blue Texas skys made me feel like I could run on forever. If I got any knee pain, I just backed off some and my knee cleared up, I kept my running under ten miles per day and had no knee problems. I'm pretty old now (50+) and still love running I guess I'll keep running all my life as long as I can move my legs.[B)]

I use-to do some cycling after a hard run to cool off and wind down back in the early 1980's- but I  got away from doing that. I never could get into cycling and I kept getting flat tires and the hassle of lugging my bike along every time I went running got to be too much for me. Texas has those thorny weeds or bushes and the thorns sometimes blew across the trail pavement giving cyclists flat tires. Some guys and gals like to cross-train, they run & cycle or rotate activities between the two, but that does not work well for me. I just don't like cycling much and I can't get into that sport. To each his own I guess.[xx(]

I'd like to take part in the Tulsa Run- but I won't be in town during that race. I understand it's a very popular race and thousands of runners sign up for it..[}:)]
