Title: Cascia Hall to mask sign brightness with glare
Post by: patric on October 23, 2008, 01:20:39 PM
Cascia Hall school proposes to add all-night lighting near a residential area to mask "the perceived light level" from the LED sign they want aproved by the BOA on 10/28.

Sort of like "fixing" graffiti by spraying over it with another color.
I dont think it would conform to zoning code 1303C (which restricts commercial lighting onto residential property).

I don't even think the sign they have proposed would bother ONE PERSON from looking at where it is..no more than a headlight would...

I highly encourage you all to send an email if you are not going to present at the meeting Oct.28.  When I emailed I quickly got a reply back that all board members would receive a copy to read.

Its probably not a good precedent, even if you are right in this instance.

Would you want a new burger joint near your house to address annoying signage by floodlighting the area then saying "now you dont notice the signs as much"?  Like punching you in the gut to take your mind off a headache.
