Well, we can't have that nut job as VP:

Just once I want to hear a politician or an athlete say "God liked the other team better this week."
If you thank God when you win, it's his fault when you lose... right? Two way street.
Bush: "It is clear God has chosen a new direction for this nation by providing a clear victory, a mandate from the people for others to lead. He is tired of this country heading down it's old path. He wants change. I guess God is an Obama supporter."
Osama Bin Laden: "I live in a squalid hole in the desert. My #2 has been killed over and over. I dare not show my face. My supporters died in droves. We accomplished nothing by increasing suffering in the world. God has, apparently, frowned upon me."
Terrel Owens: "First of all, I'd like to blame God. Well, he just wasn't there today. Not sure why. Must be an Eagles fan but I couldn't catch those balls."
Two way street people.

Amen. So after reading what Sarah Palin says in the above linked article it is safe to say that if Obama is elected, he is not only the preferred candidate of the electoral vote, but also God's candidate of choice. I will assume Sarah will be getting down on her knees begging for God's forgiveness that she said bad things about God's preferred candidate?
Thanks for clearing that up for us Sarah.
God, please let OSU win this weekend.
Mr. Burns
How is Guido behaving any differently than the recently booted AOX or FB? New spam everyday with hardly anything but rightwing links that amount to RNC drivel.
Guido. Your guy is losing for doing the same thing on a national level. I know Okies eat it up but the rest of the country doesn't respond well to this stuff. Today, Godless. Yesterday, Socialist. Three days ago, friend to terrorists. And thats just what they say out loud and in public. Disgusting behavior.

1) He hasn't been banned before
2) He seldom swears at other posters
3) Aside from his recent political junk, he contributes to the forum.
The bear and AOX/FOTD and the bear had many warnings. In some way I hate to see them go, but that horse has died and been beaten already.

I will first of all defend Guido, he rarely initiates personal attacks and is for the most part a polite poster. He has little in common in the way he posts with Bear on the right or FOTD on the left. There is zero reason to ban or censure him that I have seen. Except for very recently when I disagreed with him he has usually made quite credible arguments.
That said, Guido, man, you have walked a bit (ok, more than a bit) too far into the rightwing blogosphere and have been posting some whacked out stuff lately. A number of your posts lately have been Bear worthy in content if not in tone. Think about some of this stuff you've been posting, ok? There's no way you buy all of that is there?
Waterboy:
How is what I post any different than what many of the lefties on this forum post? In the last couple of days, we have pmcalk posting about Palin's "Real America" comment, why al qaeda prefers McCain, and Palin not knowing what the VP's job duties are. We had RM posting about attending an Obama rally. A few days back, it was "blonde highlights-gate" with Palin's hair. Today, Swake (no offense) is posting about "Saks Fifth Avenue-Gate" with Palin.
I assume you will be demanding that they be banned as well.
To another point, how is what you want done to me, silenced, any different than what your guy is doing on the national level? We have self-described, government-employed "truth squads" in Missouri to protect Obama and today some dem senator is talking up the Fairness Doctrine:

I guess that overlooks guido's "FU, you POS" response to a well-turned argument a couple of weeks ago.

Well, that's not true, but whatever.
The overwrought, disaffected white guy character is hard to pull off. It's not just poor sportsmanship and umbrage with any view that is not your own. You have to Travis Bickle angry all the time...exhausting. It's also technically challenging: what with the anachronistic fear and uncensored scorn for everything unfamiliar, which is well... practically everything. It's hard to stay fresh.
Maybe I don't read the politics forum enough then. I probably don't read 1/4 of the topic over here.
If it is okay with waterboy, I am going to post what purports to be a "new" video of McCain being questioned as a POW.

I agree with cannon fodder.
I just want to hear one time, "Jesus made me fumble. He hates our team."

I don't want anyone banned. I didn't think FB and FOTD needed to be banned, merely censured or admonished strongly. But I see little difference in the behaviors of all three except that little G is not as good or voluminous in posting as the other two were.
There now is no balance to the ridiculous headline grabbing efforts that G and some of the other uglies use to prop each other up in the face of reality. Some political threads are entirely populated with Big G (Gas), little G, Conan, et al. That, my friends, is a circle jerk.[:D] It is the equivalent of the monotheistic threads that FOTD sometimes started and continued with no response from others.
I used to get some good political insights here. They came from the passion of different views. Now it seems like a collection of "independents" and "libertarians" and partisan conservatives that simply share their hatred of politicians in general and liberals specifically. There are a few well reasoned, well documented balancing views proffered but usually they are drowned out with noise from the regular crew. Boring. Maybe that is a microcosm of Tulsa. Or maybe its just that this site works better as a forum for city development issues. Whatever.
My feeling is that if you're not constantly learning from others or influencing others you're just wasting time and space. No offense but neither is happening in the politics area here. I monitor the politics threads now, but I get my politics fix elsewhere now.
While we're on the subject of banning (not sure how we got there): I want Conan banned, he asked me a question I don't understand.
And waterboy needs to be banned. Circle jerk? Really? I don't think your allowed to say circle jerk without quotation marks. You can say "circle jerk", but not circle jerk. At least he should be banned I think, for saying circle jerk.
Recyclemichael must be banned! He said to leave guido out of of it. Clearly guido is the center of all things political, you should know that RM.
Swake needs to be banned for defending guido, no one defends guido, except Nazis. Are you a Nazi swake? Are ya??
Chicken Little needs to be banned for using big words. God hates big words.

Its just a funny little combination of words, the image of which, applied to those who have a common political purpose, gives me a chuckle. Its also very sexist as the image doesn't seem to work well for women. Besides, women don't do such things do they?
So....I apologize for using such vile imagery and promoting sexist views. From now on I will only use "Mutual Masturbation" in quotes.
BTW, Neptune needs banned because his planet is a Greek god and one of many representing nature personified. Being a good Oklahoma Christian I am deeply disturbed..er..offended.

Hey, I made top of Nep's ban list...SCORE!!!
Meant to say: "Is it Jeebus or his dad who hates OSU so much?"
I think I've been participating here for over four years and this past year I have been pleased to notice more left leaning posters than in the past. I think TulsaNow has been trending towards the left. But the absence or presence of a handful of posters can make a big difference.
Even some of the hard core right wingers have been trying to recast themselves as Independents. They probably sense a shift to the left and want to be with the "in crowd."
It's very rare that you run across a real individual.
Original thinking is almost unheard of too. It's interesting to watch people pick up each other's phrases and ideas and tailor them to their own agenda.
Banning generally runs against the grain of the expression of opinion though I do object to pointless obscenity.
Neptune should be banned: as a round gaseous giant that takes pleasure in mocking Uranus it could be argued that he is a circle jerk.
I should be banned: I used the words "gaseous" and "Uranus" in the same sentence.

Meanwhile, back on topic....
Recovering ex-evangelical and onetime King of Assemblies of God Kid's Camp here. [:D]
And Palin "trusting God" is not the issue...
Here's the article referred to by Free Republic.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081022/ap_on_el_pr/rel_palin_dobson_1
Dobson asked whether Palin was discouraged by polls showing the GOP ticket behind.
"To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder," Palin said. "And it also strengthens my faith, because I'm going to know, at the end of the day, putting this in God's hands, that the right thing for America will be done at the end of the day on Nov. 4. So I'm not discouraged at all."
Palin has not focused on her faith on the campaign trail, but it clearly has energized evangelical leaders like Dobson, whose radio show reaches an estimated 1.5 million Americans daily.
Dobson has come around to supporting the McCain-Palin ticket after previously saying he could not in good conscience vote for McCain. He endorsed former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee late in the primaries.
Palin thanked Dobson and supporters for their prayers and — when Dobson inquired about the importance of faith in her life — said: "It is my foundation, yes, my Christian faith is."
She also used terms like "prayer warrior" and "intercession" — words that might be unknown to the average listener but are common vocabulary in Pentecostal Christianity. Palin spent 20 years in a Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church, but she usually refers to her faith generically as Christian, not even evangelical.
"It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated," Palin told Dobson. "And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation."
She continued: "When we hear along the rope lines that people are interceding for us and praying for us, it's our reminder to do the same, to put this all in God's hands, to seek his perfect will for this nation, and to of course seek his wisdom and guidance in putting this nation back on the right track."
Describing herself as a "hard-core pro-lifer," Palin said the birth of a son with Down syndrome was "this opportunity for me to really be walking the walk and not just talking the talk. There's purpose in this also and for a greater good to be met there."
Palin said the campaign had to have faith that its message will be heard "minus the filter of the mainstream media."
"That filter has to be erased," she said. "So we have to have faith in the wisdom of the people that they'll understand what our message is. But even bigger that then, I have to have that faith that God is going to help us get that message out there."
------------------------------------------------
So, now we know who the REAL Americans are: evangelical right wingers from the Assemblies of God Church who believe God is a Republican...
Pat Robertson's memo distributed in 1986 to the Iowa Republican County Caucus:
"How to Participate in a Political Party
Rule the world for God.
Give the impression that you are there to work for the party, not push an ideology.
Hide your strength.
Don't flaunt your Christianity.
Christians need to take leadership positions. Party officers control political parties and so it is very important that mature Christians have a majority of leadership positions whenever possible, God willing."
What does Dick Lugar think about all this Ruf?
I started this particular thread not as a statement against Obama's religious beliefs or that Palin is more "Christian" than anybody. The point I was attempting to make was that in some political circles having a deep religious foundation can be detrimental. Remember about two weeks ago Palin was being bashed because some religious person prayed over her to protect her from "witchcraft" or something like that, I was posting this recent press coverage about her faith to preemptively criticize those sort of attacks. I mean really, why is the fact that Palin is "trusting" God newsworthy?
For the same reasons Reverend Wright, or McCain's associations with Rev Hagee etc gets talked about.
Here's the deal for Palin: She came on the scene a couple of months ago. All the crappy little stories, the political BS, and even the purely made-up-stuff; that all gets talked about NOW. While Obama, McCain, and Biden have been on the scene a long time and have all three been through this crap; Palin hasn't. She gets it now.
This is why McCain's "vetting" process came up. Palin is someone who has all kinds or baggage of various sizes, that the public has not seen until recently. McCain's campaign should have saw all of this.
McCain threw her to the wolves. He had only two months till the General Election, and he took a gamble on Palin's background, knowing that it would all come out in the last two months of the campaign. I think McCain hoped to steal enough of the female vote, that Palin's quirks and background wouldn't matter. I think he also took a gamble that in the world of "television", Palin's looks would trump the words coming out of her mouth.
McCain would have done better picking a "liberal" Republican, like Susan Collins of Maine. She's been through all the public vetting you can stand, and Obama's hold on Democrats and Independents would have been weakened. McCain always had the right-wingers locked up, even if they didn't like him. But right-wingers don't win elections for the GOP. It's never been the "lock-steppers" for the GOP, it's all about Independents and swing-Democrats.
And though I love Pat Buchanan, I do not agree with his belief that Palin is the future of the GOP. Unless McCain wins and dies in office, I think McCain ruined Palin's political future outside of Alaska, and perhaps even in Alaska.
Palin injures Blues' Goalie:
