Title: Is this normal for Hockey Mom's??????
Post by: swake on October 22, 2008, 11:20:45 AM
And John Edwards got roasted for a $400 haircut, holy crap.

Palin spends $150,000 dollars of GOP money on clothes.

I am interested in how Fox News (fair and balanced?) is going to handle this since they have spent the last two years making John Edward's $400.00 haircut an issue. Fair and balanced? Yeah right.

Liberal Media? Duh. Fox News? Duh.

It's sad that I have to rely on the BBC to find out what's really going on in America.

FYI- Edited because I stated "last six years". Changed to "two".

Here is my spin prediction:

Obama, Biden, Hillary, Kerry... all Senators who already had expensive and appropriate wardrobes at tax payer expense.   Palin, as governor of Alaska, had a more down to Earth attire and does not have the money necessary to where fancy clothes every day on the campaign trail.  The GOP is happy to help her dress like a Vice President and the clothing provided will be utilized in her new role as well as she represents the United States.

If, for unforeseen reason, Sarah Palin is not the next Vice President the clothing will be donated/auctioned off for charity.

Other quips:
John Kerry spends more on haircuts in a normal decade than Palin spends on clothes while running for the VP.

Al Gores plane cost more than that anyway.

If she was a man [insert something here]

/that's my guess.  Decent spin as it is true, if not still obnoxious

Obviously they have to dress her up and make her look nice in front of all those people.

I can't believe no one else has said this yet, but they've got to put lipstick on that pig, you know!!

Come on now, lay-off the Palin!

Should any self-respecting VP candidate be seen in last season's fashions or wearing something from *gasp* Penny's???

The horror of it all!!!!

You mean when I wear the J.C. Penney Fox polo it means I'm not cool?

I always thought Garanimals weren't cool only cause they stopped at size 7.

Except for the Wonder Woman version.

$50,000 would have been more than enough to buy 14 high quality american-made bespoke suits.

$5,000 would have been enough to buy 14 high quality made in hong kong bespoke suits.

Yeah, but that's only two weeks worth of clothes.  You don't think she should be caught dead wearing the same thing twice on the campaign trail, do you?  My gosh what a faux pas!

She's got a big family to clothe too, they shouldn't have to get scraps or wear Kmart, right?

We men have it so much easier. We can look like we're wearing the same thing every day and nobody cares, as long as we change our tie.

Spill some soup or chili on your tie and it'll look like you changed it as well.

Here's the McCain campaign dirty little secret--Palin was never chosen to attrack female votes.  The idea that she could stand in the shoes of Hillary is ridiculous.  As an ex-beauty queen, she was clearly chosen to attract men.  Of course they had to spend $150,000 on her clothes, hair and makeup.

FYI, if you break it down to the 6 weeks she's been in the race, she has spent approximately $3,600 a day.

Just to make a point--Michelle Obama appeared on The View in an off the rack $150 dress.  Still a little expensive for my checkbook, but much more within the "average American."

Wow, that's touching.  I bet her closet is full of $150 dresses.

Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a $150 dress if I was out in drag, but that's just me.

Just going out on a limb here, but I bet Michelle Obama looks better in that $150 dress than you would look in any dress.  [;)]

Maybe I'm cheap, but $150 seems more than enough to spend on a dress.

OK, I'll be honest.  I am really, really cheap.  Kohls is high class to me.  Last dress I bought cost around $80.  That seemed about right.  If I had to spend $3000 dollars on an outfit, I wouldn't know I would do it.

I've met Conan. If he steps a little closer to the razor and applies some Nair elsewhere, he'd be downright fetching in a cocktail dress. [;)]

Funny comments from Mike Murphy (chief strategist from McCain's 2000 presidential bid) regarding the $150000:

quote:

I saw the RNC statement on Gov. Palin's $150,000 clothing bender on the RNC's tab. This caper is gonna make for a long day at the office for the good folks at the RNC/McCain press operation. Thought I'd offer a little help in a humorous vein; some other possible spin lines for the RNC.

1.) What you sneering critics in the liberal MSM fail to see here is... a Jobs Program! Saks floorwalkers, cashiers, a team of sweating porters to haul the merchandise from the store to the motorcade... chiropractors to treat those porters. Sarah Palin knows how to create jobs!

2.) What's the difference between a Pit Bull and a Hockey Mom? You can feed a pit-bull for 483 years with 150 grand.

3.) Still cheaper than Mitt Romney's hair products. We're saving money here...

4.) William Ayres is a terrorist!

5.) New ad slogan: "Clothes for Gov. Palin? $150,000. Time machine to go back two months to late August and ask what the Hell were Schmidt and Davis thinking when they cooked up this idea and sold it to McCain? Priceless."

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/10/bling_zing.html

Obviously, Murphy & McCain aren't the good budies they once were.
