Title: Online grocery shopping
Post by: TheTed on October 20, 2008, 12:53:23 PM
Has anyone else tried the online ordering with Reasor's or Food Pyramid? They both use the same system, something called shopouraisles.com.

I tried it yesterday via Food Pyramid and found it extremely frustrating.

I never got any type of confirmation emails when signing up or submitting my order. I had no way of knowing whether my order was placed or whether it disappeared into some internet black hole.

Then I call their 800 number and was told the order was placed and would be ready Wednesday morning. I placed the order Sunday for a Monday pickup.

The lack of information in this system makes it worthless to me. I didn't even see how on the site to view my order status or pickup times.

Anybody have a better experience?

Hope you didn't order milk or frozen foods, they might not be able to make it from Sunday to Wednesday.

I just cancelled my order because I didn't want to wait that long or pick up groceries at the time specified.

I really had high hopes for this service. I always end up crisscrossing the grocery store five times to find everything, then picking the checkout aisle that has some lengthy delay.

There's that Buzzword guy who is always starting new e-businesses and promoting them on here.  I think his business is "Imdelivered.com" or something like that.

Never tried either service and I guess I just can't get used to the idea of someone else doing my shopping for me even though it's essentially a waste of two hours of my life everytime I do my major grocery shop.

The way I figure it, if they muff my order, I'm going to piss away an hour of my life trying to get it straight and I certainly don't care to wait three days to get my groceries.

It looks like imdelivered.com is in the middle of an upgrade or something. That site's prices look kind of steep. $8 plus 13%.

Food Pyramid only charges $5 if you pick it up. Too bad web ordering system seems to be worthless.

Agreed.  When I buy groceries, I want to see what goes into my cart (and later my mouth), check sell-by dates for the freshest items, and scan the register as they ring it up for pricing errors.  I rarely shop that I don't notice at least one scanner pricing error in the store's favor at Reasor's.  And you know the store would try to get rid of its old stock first with online orders, since the customer was not there to check.

On-line shopping might be great for some things, I have bought clothes and furniture online, but IMO grocery shopping is not one of them.
