Can you imagine the press frenzy if any Republican had done this? For that matter, any of the gaffs coming from Biden on a regular basis?

Why isn't MSM jumping all over this?  Again, why did Obama think he needed Biden for a running mate?

I guess the flip side of Biden's statement is "Elect McCain, we will not have an international crisis."

Seriously?  That's it?

There're a whole lot of soiled panties on this thread for really no reason that I can see.  Anyone want to walk me through the objectional content?

Gee I dunno:

"Prepare for a cataclysm if Obama and I are elected..."

That's what's disturbing me, anyhow.  Small deal, I know.  My panties must soil too easily

I guess we can spend the next however long continuing to be outraged that Biden isn't always precise with his language or we can actually choose to understand him.

My point is, he's here to stay, might very well be our next VP, and is probably going to go on being his gaffe-y self. Feel free to burn as many calories freaking out over this as you want.  Might get you slimmer.  But so will sculling up and down the Arkansas River [;)]

Or..
I guess we can continue to use the fact that Bush isn't always precise with his language to prove how stupid he is.

No bias here.

If, by a "gaffer," you mean someone who carelessly tells the truth, then I guess Biden is "guilty."  To my ear, it sounds like Biden caught a rhetorical touchdown pass and then ran with it... into the opposing team's end zone.   [:D]

Ironically, this is an issue the McCain campaign would like to bring up on its own but hasn't for whatever reasons:  that the prospect of an Obama presidency could embolden our enemies to test him early in his term.

But when Republicans use statements from private democratic fundraisers as fodder to bolster their own faltering campaign, it just shows that their own ideas aren't really worth discussing... not unlike when Hillary Clinton exploited the "bitter" and "cling to guns" comments made by Obama in San Francisco, when he inadvertently told the truth ala "What's the Matter with Kansas"...

Obama (April 6): "You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

You can tell me that the above statement is stupid to make politically, but I know there is more truth to that original statement than the well-engineered sound-bite backlash it caused...

Nope, no bias here.  Unless you want to paint me as everydemocrat, which I'm decidedly not.

I don't pay too much attention to Bush's "strategery" or his "nucular" usage. But when he says stuff like "With us or against us," or "Bring 'em on," or "I'm the decider," etc. ad infinitum, well, that's not only colorful speech but it's purposeful.  And I think I'm getting his meaning just fine.

Perhaps you don't but many people use his public speaking ability to indicate he is stupid.

I won't argue with you about "with us or against us" type statements.
