I tried to order a pizza tonight from one of my favorite local restaurants, Pie Hole, for my debate party...but after 20 minutes of calling, no answer. I drove by after deciding to go with Hideaway and noticed the lights were off and nobody was there. Please tell me it didn't close?!

if so file this under dead restaurants.
I heard that they're on vacation this week.
Yes, they had a sign up this weekend that said that they were on vacation.
OH MY GAWD!!
Tell me their not closed!!!
Please only be a vacation!!!
I Love this place.........
A couple of months ago it was listed for sale on Craigslist, but for pizza by the slice you can't go wrong with Umberto's
I don't eat much pizza these days, though it's nice to have Umberto's or Pie Hole as nearby options when the mood hits. Can't beat the garlic knots at Umberto's, or the Calzone.
Thanks for the info guys. I'm glad it's just vacation.
Actually, a friend works there, and two weeks ago she showed up for work, and there was a note on the door it had been closed down by the health department, not so much for dirty issues, but some license issues the owner had. If he has changed the sign to vacation, maybe he is trying to get his stuff straight and open back up. He never called his employees. They were totally shocked.
I called my friend for an update, there has still been no word to employees about opening up. He still owes the employees pay and everything. Anyway, lowered my opinion of the owner and therefore the pizza! Of course, I'm rather addicted to Umbertos Calzones . . . mouth watering!
I'm glad I don't eat Pizza! Looks like "T" Town may have lost a good shop.[B)]

Wow. :( Bummer. Thanks for the insight. That's unfortunate. I really hope they get it straightened out.
Nice to know..thanks..I have enjoyed their pizza's many times.....
Someone told me last week Pie Hole is for sale.
Sorry to hear that. Their pizza is wonderful!
If you live near 51st & Harvard, NYC Pizza is pretty good. Also, Mario's is moving to the south side of 51st & Harvard.

That's weird, he was the more responsible of the Matthews brothers, but I really did question how it stayed in business, didn't seem like a lot of volume.
its true, pie hole has been closed for a few weeks, sort of a "enforced vacation" i had a licensing problem with the state and it just so happened to cusp with the sale of the business and a planned vacation...
i DID owe 2 employees a paycheck and am glad to say i got it all cleared up with them within days, they are both part time and i only saw them at work, so had to arrange a time to meet them both and get them paid. my employees are close friends and would never be abandoned.
thanks for the support of the last 5 years, i will be there with the new owners for a while until they are comfortable with running the place solo, always looking forward to continuing to grow my other businesses in Tulsa and participating in the tulsanow.org forums

Proof that Zach Matthews is a stand up guy and an asset to the community.
Thanks Zach.
Mr. Burns
Wait wait wait... the city and/or state causes troubles for small business? I thought all they did was take tax money and help the much vaunted and often destroyed small business owner?
I enjoyed your pies. When I refer to pizza as "pie" I get funny looks. Taking them to the hole helped me make my case.

Thanks for the response Zach. :)
See, told you he was the responsible one [;)]
Can't wait to see it re-open, it's been a credit to the area even though pizza isn't really on my training diet.
Bull and Bear reopened?! When did that happen.
That was my favorite bar when I was a young'un. Jimmy alway had a terrible joke ready for me:
"How are a blonde and a turtle the same? If they end up on their back they're both f***'d."

Yes, it is opening soon. Also, look for Mark Matthews to open the "Crystal Pistol" downtown next door to the Sound Pony.
Talk about flashback!
Somebody shut your pie hole?
I just checked and there is at least one employee who still hasn't been paid. I passed this information along to her, so maybe she can contact Mr. Matthews directly since he's stating he's such an upstanding employer. I hope he does what is right.

Thank God local businesses have you to keep on top of their employees. Can you get me the name of the woman who works at Viet Huong? A phone number would help too. Just check her W-2 for me. Thanks!
Mr. Burns
WOW, that's pretty tacky.
It's a personal friend, that's the only reason I know, or even care. If her boss in on here saying he's covered all his employee's pay and you all are patting him on the back calling him a stand-up guy, and I know for a fact someone hasn't been paid. . .
So sorry you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Oh your comments were not meant in a snide way? My bad. If what you say is true, why not just email Mr. Matthews directly?
Have a nice weekend.
Mr. Burns
As I said in my previous post, I forwarded his comments to her, so that she can contact him, since apparently he said he intends to pay his employees.
If I came on here saying I was the perfect person and gave all my money to the poor and you knew I spent all my money on myself, wouldn't you call me on that? I wasn't mean about it, just factual.
I'm glad they are reopening, but again, yummm, just enjoyed a calzone at Umberto's last night [:I]

Hey,
when I read:
"If her boss in on here saying he's covered all his employee's pay and you all are patting him on the back calling him a stand-up guy"
of course I took it as snide, not sure how else I could. If it wasn't meant that way then no biggie.
I am good friends with your friend if it happens to be S---- or K----.
Ummmm yes, I too think Umberto's calzones are the best.
Mr. Burns
tulsa_fan,
just who is your friend that hasn't been paid? i have all my bases covered here as i checked after your last post.
i have an employee named jen, she has about 1 hour on a time card and told me not to worry about it as it would cost her more to come into town and get her money. she'd get it from me when she sees me next, or just buy her a beer sometime.
one girl has another's paycheck and has had it for the last 3 weeks, that's between them, i wrote her check but her friend hasn't given it to her yet. she tried to deliver it at her night job but she wasnt there and didnt feel right just leaving it for her. i didnt ask her to try and get it to her, that must have been between them.
i even offered to go with her to the bank and give her the cash last week but she said never mind that and she'd just get that originally issued check from stef....
so:
stef-paid
becca-issued but not cashed, so lets call that paid as well
gena-paid
amanda-paid
whitey-paid
patrick-paid
kate-paid
andy-paid
hollis-paid
kaycee- doesn't work for me, so had no owed hours
i havent heard from any of them about a lost check, and according to my bank records, all issued paychecks from the 20th of sept have been cashed, except that one...
there was a girl who came in for a few hours one day, watched how things worked and was offered a job after that, but she didnt show up the next morning and we never heard from her again.. a flake, but it happens.
whats your next claim? you aren't factual at all, you're just causing trouble where there is none to be had.
on a side note, i'm glad you enjoyed umberto's calzones. my family also started that and sold it to the current owner, Moses over ten years ago.
if i hear from an employee that hasnt been treated fairly or has a problem with thier time and payment ill let you all know.
thanks for your clear concern in this matter,
