McCain knew the name of the soldier on his bracelet from memory, BO on the other hand...
Ummm, I'm guessing that McCain has that name memorized because he tells the story
every single time he gives a speech:
quote:
Toward the end of almost every speech he gives or informal remarks he delivers at a town hall-style meeting, Sen. John McCain tells the same story.
If you watch him carefully, you can even tell when it's coming.
The Arizona senator will shoot his right arm forward in his suit sleeve, revealing a dark metallic band low on his wrist. It's probably an unconscious gesture. He doesn't hold up the bracelet. He doesn't look at it. But very soon he will tell the story. He has told it hundreds of times.

Perhaps Obama doesn't think you should use the death of a soldier as a political stunt.
Really, talk about grasping at straws.

Then you explain why he is wearing the wristband, if not as a political stunt.
As for grasping at straws, you must have forgotten about the Bush I v. Clinton debate when he merely looked at his wristwatch.
Unlike McCain, Obama has been very silent about the bracelet he was given many months ago, finding it inappropriate to constantly use it as a campaign gimmick. He has made a point of not showing it to the press.

McCain, on the other hand, has repeated his speech on the man's death so many times, the press can even guess when it's coming. Did Obama pause before giving the man's name? Yes--unlike McCain, he seemed a bit uncomfortable exploiting a fallen soldier.
Of course I remember the wrist watch moment with Bush. What you seem to forget is that was just one part of a debate in which Bush performed pathetically. He looked bored the entire debate--looking at his watch just symbolized it.
This "bracelet gate" has no legs--expect among right wing idealogues.
What you do hear floating around quite a bit is the fact that your guy refused to make eye contact with Obama. That fits in with the "angry old man" attitude that you saw last night. His condescending attitude, and his refusal to even look at Obama. In my opinion, that will be the "wrist watch" moment.
Is Barack wearing the bracelet against the soldier's family's wishes?

Man, are you getting desparate. You post a blog that says the mother waited in the cold to give the bracelet to Obama and was honored when he mentioned it in a speech, but that her divorced husband who supports McCain says she has misgivings.
Wake me when you have some news.
The mother has now stepped forward and said that she is 'ecstatic' about Obama wearing the bracelet.
Soldier's mother 'ecstatic' about Obama's bracelet (//%22http://townhall.com/news/politics-elections/2008/09/28/soldiers_mother_ecstatic_about_obamas_bracelet%22)
Does this end "Bracelet-Gate"? Yes.

Bracelet-gate was about McCain knowing the name of soldier on his bracelet, that's all. It somehow became McCain politicizing the issue, to which I responded that, believe it or not, Obama was doing the same thing. Anyway, about mom being "ecstatic", I read that today. But I also came across this:

In other words, I was trying to create a scandal where none existed, and when someone challenged me, I started making up other stuff.
Funny to watch a republican drone on and on about something-gate.... first Englewood-gate, now Bracelet-gate...
No. It's called Watergate. No additional cutsy terms necessary to link something to a break in... it was the 70s, for Pete's sake.
If there's a scandal, the use of -gate really shows off how Republicans still smart from the Nixon years.
Gee, what's next?
I know........ Desperation-gate?!? [}:)]
