James Fallows wrote earlier this year in The Atlantic about Ralph Nader:
http://jamesfallows.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/02/ralph_nader_tragedy_to_farce.php
The key passage:
"That he stayed in the race in 2000 was tragedy. (See: Invasion of Iraq, 2003, and subsequent occupation.) That he came back in 2004 was unfortunate; his entry in 2008 is farce. Farce because it suggests detachment from political reality (the differences between the Republican and Democratic nominees are so faint that we can say, What the hell!) and, worse, narcissism. The fact that it won't make any difference in the outcome actually is sad."
And Fallows is a *friend* of Nader's. Ouch.
Should be fun.
He has a "grass roots" organization that is made up of the most interesting people.
When I say "grass roots" I am referring to cannabis.
Lets all slap on our foil helmets, smear ourselves with human excrement, and hop on our urban dog-sleds to attend this event. I'll bring the incense and glow sticks, if someone else can bring a large bottle of orange juice.
I can't wait.
Someone here, please think of a good prank to pull on this POS.[8)]
The campaign office for Nader called my office wanting us to put up a table with my environmental propaganda at there press conference.
I almost never pass up an opportunity to greenwash...but this time said no.

When they called, did they forget why they called and have to call you right back?
He is a jerk in my book. Cares more about himself than the issues. We would have made much more progress on environmental and green issues if he didnt exist.
Anyone got a Corvair I can borrow?

My ex-father-in-law has one. I'm going to call and suggest he drive it down there tomorrow.

If Nader hadn't split the vote back in 2000, Gore would have won. Dubya wouldn't have sent us off on some absurd pre-emptive war. Hundreds of thousands of people would not have lost their lives due to the war (war casualties, war-induced violence, and deaths related to destroyed infrastructure, disease and lack of healthcare b/c of the war). Countless more would not have been disabled or injured or suffered PTSD.
How many lives did he spare from the Pinto?
I think he's hurt a lot more than he's helped.
