Aloha And Lawzee:

This is a pet peeve of mine

Naming  rights what the flip are naming rights
sounds like just another excuse to to bleed money out of the public or play capitalists/communists  yes I know it has been going on for years all over the country but
If we are as a society going to build these grand venues then we should at least respect them and give them  dignified names don't we have anyone noteworthy enough or famous enough in Tulsa to name the arena after  The Bok Center
gag choke puke yes I know the arena has already
been named  but don't Tulsans have any  civic
pride  being cavalier is no way to go through
life
We can do better

                  Aloha and Lawzee

Why should you care?  You think it looks like a 'ducted-tape dog bowl'

[:O]

BTW, the company the building is named after PAYS for the exclusivity to have their name on the building.

So how are we getting 'bled' if we're not paying for the naming rights.

Its not just a current fad Packard. Buildings were once named for their companies, their builders, or their uses if no private donor stepped up to offer help in financing. Thus you have the McBirney building, the Cities Service Building (until they left), the Kennedy building etc. Even the IPE building was named for the annual Petroleum Exposition held there. Since the meeting is no longer held here doesn't it make sense to sell those naming rights for money to benefit its operation?

I would draw the line at public construction like parks, freeway exits and municipal buildings though.
