I just wondered if anyone here went (or knew someone who did) and how the acoustics turned out, considering the comments in the Eagles and Kenny Chesney threads.
Newschannel 8 mentioned that it was sold out.
It was great.
I had completely different seats than when I went to the Eagles so I can't comment on the acoustics.
People say I don't listen well anyway.
The show was part over the top wresting introductions and folksy audience banter from the singers. Several singers reflected on this last show together and talked about what this tour meant to them.
Krysty Lee Cook was stunningly beautiful and wowed the crowd. Syesha Mercado was my favorite. I think she is going to be a major break-out artist. The crowd went wild for the two Davids, and could have raised the roof when David Cook came out.
The crowd was at least half full of children. It was a great reason to bring the whole family downtown. My kids said it was one of the greatest nights of their life.
It was a show I would see again. It was well-produced. The singers all had the same kind of desire to be as strong as possible. They sang as if they could be voted off by the audience after any song.
I had a great time. The sound was great, atmosphere was great, all together great.
I agree, I had a great time as well. I am extremely impressed with everything about the BOK Center. The show was a lot of fun, and David Cook was awesome.
My wife and I went to this concert and set in the seats right next to the club seat and I cant say enough about how much better the seats are in the lower section compared to the top level, much more legroom!! The show itself was a blast and the sound and video board looked very nice and done well. I also tried out a burger from Billy's and that was one of the best burgers Ive ever had!!!

Supposedly 80% of the events will be confined to the lower bowl or at least mostly so and during those full arena events, only half the seats are in the upper bowl. So basically, only 10% of people at the BOK Center will use opper bowl seats, so that is why all Arenas, like ours, go smaller on those seats and widths. In actuality you are only talking about a couple of inches difference but it can seem to make a big difference.
It was also drier on the lower level. You had to dodge all the trashcans and buckets on the higher levels catching water, due to the leaks!

Somehow I smell a drive-by naysayer...I think I'd have heard about that fairly early on, considering it rained during the Kenny Chesney concert also.
I was at the club level for the Saturday night show and I didn't see any leaks.
But it wouldn't have surprised me that there were some leaks somewhere in this massive facility. There was a tremendous amout of rain coming down and it was the first real test.
If there were leaks, I am sure they are being fixed.

Were you there Saturday night? ..... I was, and the building leaks.
I was there, I didn't see any leaks.

Yep, drive-by naysayer.
We were there and didn't see any leaks but my brother in law told me that he did see a section on the upper level where they had big trash cans catching the water and some guys were mopping up the floor.
Bucuo was right.
Any idea where? I walked around the whole upper bowl and didn't see anything. I had an hour to kill, so I did some exploring. Not saying there wasn't a leak, just that I didn't see anything.

Maybe right, but not quite right.
"You had to dodge all the trashcans and buckets on the higher levels catching water, due to the leaks!"
One section out of 20 hardly seems like you'd have to dodge.
Naysayer alert....
Of course water means roof leak, not plumbing issue, sprinkler issue, air conditioning condensation, or any of those other things common in new construction.

Hoss, It is apparant from your posts you were not there on Saturday night for the American Idol show. "Naysayer", nope, SMG employee. If you as familiar with the BOK Center as you let on, you know who SMG is.
Anyway, I have worked at all three concerts. Your right, at least I did not observe any leaks at the Kenny Chesney concert. However, last Saturday night was a differant story. If anyone used the main stairway on the south side of the BOK Center after the show they would have seen three sets of leaks. One was about six steps up from the lower level with a large gray trashcan to catch the water. Another was as you check into the Premium Level with a mop bucket to catch water. Up from this location on the third floor were two mop buckets to catch leaks and three employees with mops to mop up the constant stream.
"Naysayer", nope, I hope they get it fixed and am certain they will. It is a beautiful arena and the Premium Level suites are awsome. Besides working the concerts is fun. See you there Hoss.

Bucuo was right.
Won't see me at most of the concerts.
I will, however, be there at least 32 times in the next 9 months.
Maybe right, but not quite right.

Yep, I'll be there 32 times this year. Come see in section 101 during the hockey games, then I'll believe you. It's actually pretty easy to say you work for SMG. Prove it to me on October 25th. You'll have no problem figuring out who I am.

Sorry Hoss, I don't work hockey games.....only concerts. I will work all the concerts and be on the Premium Level, however I will not be working Lil Wayne, as I have a high school football game to attend that night. But I will be there for Rascall Flatts. Stop by the Premium Level and ask one of the off duty officers for me. I will be there or leave my my screen name with them. They will know me...I promise.
Well, I went to the Kenny Chesney and Idol concerts and by far the Idol concert had better acoustics. I am sure it is because I sat smack in the middle for Idol and on the side for Kenny Chesney so I was getting like rebound sound during the Chesney concert.
I have to tell you though, there were tons of fans from outside of Tulsa for the Idol concert and we had a pre-party at Plan B the night before, and there were at least 100 from out of town, so I would love to know if they can measure how many visitors came from outside of town.
I have noticed a little bit of disconnect with downtown businesses that don't know there is a concert and aren't ready for the rush from about 5-7pm . I hope they catch up fast because if the kitchen cannot handle a crowd before a concert, people will look elsewhere.
Also, I heard some complaints about taxi's in downtown were $10 to go 4 blocks. Is there is a minimum fee for a short ride? If so the taxi regulators should consider trying to get there to be a downtown rate because that turned off a lot of visitors.
The Doubletree and Crowne Plaza were awesome though and took the visitors in the shuttles to the BOK and around downtown and Brookside when their vans were available. Where they weren't so organized was trying to call into the front desk to get connected to a guest, I probably called 5-6 times and the phone just rang and rang. Thank god for cell phones.
But finally, I thought everyone would get a hoot about this. Okay, there are people so hooked on Tulsa because David Cook had a time here, that they were singing these songs!! Now, come on, those of us FROM Tulsa probably don't even know them. Maybe we could have a Tulsa songwriting contest and there would be a lot of people who would enter from the music world!!
i have been singing this song all day... in preparation for my trip... :-)

Pretty convenient, dontcha think??
J/K.
Oh, and if you do work the premium levels, what were you doing up 'dodging all the buckets' in the upper level?
I was lucky to get to the premium level for the Idol concert. I have to say it was very nice.
Big leather seats with little tables...no lines in the bathrooms or concessions, and our suite had excellent chicken wings and free beer.
I didn't see the leaks you mentioned, but I was not looking for them either.
Was in the rafters for Eagles. Great acoustics, bad air.
Ran into RM on the premium level at Idol. Great acoustics, better air.
Favorite act: watching the kids (mine included) go nuts for all the performers they'd seen on TV. The perky teens in front of us nearly went hoarse informing David Archuleta of their undying love.
And again, parking was such a snap! This time, didn't even have to pay... walked only four blocks. Anyone complaining about the parking situation ought to be treated to a game at Wrigley or an anything in Boston, NYC or Dallas.

Or Houston (I lived there) or even St. Louis
