Here are the websites...
http://www.sallybell.net/
http://www.karenkeith.org/
I am curious of what people think about the websites and the candidate positions.
I think Sally Bell is concentrating too much on the "I'm not Randy Miller" front. Karen Keith's site is a bit sparse on content.
I am not in the district but I would tend to support KK over SB because I don't think Sally fully understands what sort of a Hornet's nest she is getting herself into. Karen Keith will probably be able to handle the pressure and numbers of pissed off people better. Following Randy Miller, both will have probably two years of nothing but cleaning up crap and trying to get bearings all the while the County is struggling with bad PR and will likely lose it's next capital vote.

Karen Keith is the candidate mouthpiece of the local moneyed-controlling establishment.
She has vacumned the Mid-Town Elite for 5X the amount raised by Sally Bell.
I've already received multi-colored direct mailers from Keith, and see her furrowed contenance staring down from me from billboards around town.
Always, FOLLOW THE MONEY.
Karen Keith will be NO Reformer. She cannot.

I'm voting for Sally Bell.
Sally Bell all the way.....
This pretty much sums it up for me....

Totally Sally! I was almost a KK'r until she asked for my money. HELL she already has the money....frickin...frickin..err..nevermind.
edited for spelling and those are simple words...geesh
I'm voting for Karen Keith.
Me too

I keep forgetting that if rich people spend money on it, it must be bad. Please stay out of the BOK Center, PAC, Driller's Stadium, Riverparks, St Francis, St John's, Philbrook, Gilcrease, or anything else worthwhile.
Keith wins the website contest. Simple, clear, and professional. I like her small town roots. Muskogee and Miami.
Bell has a good website too but I can't get into the fine print. Summaries are better for hit and run readers.
One is an OSU grad. Don't we have enough of those around here? Ugh.
One is a TU grad. Slightly better but likely propagandized by living here so long.
They're both qualified I'm sure. I'm going with the television girl. She has local government experience and will be hesitant to make the same mistakes the county's been making. I still remember her skating along the running path 20 years ago and smiling at me. Done deal.

Not only endorsed by Bob Dick, but he has pride of place on the endorsement page of her website.
Every candidate has to deal with embarrassing endorsements, but Karen is downright proud to tell you she'll govern in the tradition of Bob Dick.

What a pair:
The Chump and the Chimp.
A Karen Keith endorsement from former REPUBLICAN Tulsa County Commissioner Dirty Bob Dick?
Rather the kiss of death from Mafia Don Michael Corleone.
Who's endorsement is coming next: former REPUBLICAN Mayor Bill MisFortunate??
THAT would be the Kiss of Death for KKKeith.
Remember their Vision 2025 Sales Pitch:
"It's ALL about Jobs" (for illegal Aliens).
However, the Rooney Family and the Flint Family THANK you very much for the $200 million in your hard-earned tax dollars that you slipped into their pockets for building an unnecessary Arena in the WRONG location.
And, Karen Keith was one of the PRINCIPAL cheerleaders agitating to raise Vision 2025 sales taxes on Tulsa County's poor and middle class for 13 years.
The Rooneys, Flints, Lortons and Kaisers now just want to say THANKS VERY MUCHO to Karen for helping deliver the Tax Moola to their hungry, hoggish snouts, full into the tasty Vision 2025 Tax Gravy.
They are Soooooooooo appreciative.
Oink, Oink.
Tanks!
Oink.
Oink, Oink, Oink.
Here, Piggy Piggy Piggy!
More Tax Gravy for your huge, hoggish Snout!

Lawzee! There are rules against multiple posting of the same messages on different threads. If we all did that there would be no real discussion only a cheap source of advertising.
FB, even though I didn't vote for LaFortune he had plenty of support even after waltzing through his mayoral tenure. He still would have beaten Taylor if it hadn't been for a couple of spoilers in his own party trading on anti issues. Bob Dick makes an endorsement and a photo op and you jump to the conclusion that she'll lead like he did? Who's endorsing Sally Bell?

I think the inference is Bob Dick is still in control.
And, I endorse Sally Bell.

Not inferring anything, but who are you? [:D] Seriously, I'm not an insider, if you are clue me in.
A picture of Bob Dick and Keith is no more insightful than a pic of Lafortune dipping his feet in the Arkansas River with the subtitle, "The River Development Mayor".

When it comes to my vote, my endorsement carries a lot of weight.

Waterboy, Karen Keith put Bob Dick's endorsement at the top of her campaign website's endorsement page (//%22http://www.karenkeith.org/endorsements.php%22). You might say Karen Keith is endorsing Bob Dick's endorsement. The prominent position suggests that she admires Bob Dick's record as County Commissioner (//%22http://www.batesline.com/archives/2005/10/utw-how-good-an-ol-boy-are-you.html%22) and would seek to emulate it.

Time for Karen to step up and make a clear statement as to the depth of her admiration for Bob Dick and his past gob deals. Like you I am not fond of the bridge, Cinnabar, the hotel etc.
However, as has been pointed out here a lot lately, the goal is to be elected. Maybe its just a photo or maybe she intends to bring the boys back for a remake. A pic is not enough to determine that.
With Sally garnering the support of FB, Wrinkle and 56Packard it looks like one gob would be replaced by another. That doesn't appeal either.
One is of a business home grown that became a landmark on the horizon representing the struggling working poor, catering to their children. Whether she would exercise this vendetta as a trustees of Tulsa County remains to be seen but like every person who starts a business, to have it trashed by bulldozers at a great family loss, would know the problems of the working poor that make up of the majority of citizens of Tulsa County.
On the other side of the "v" is a woman who came up in the limelight, exercising a vendetta with the training of a PR person for the post that the "good old boys" thought was secure. There is no question that she would like the commissioner post but her handicap is liken to the experience of a PR person who's every statement is subject to an editor. In this case the "good ole boys" would be available to edit any action that came before the commission.
Let us not forget that these commissioners are trustees to react in the best interest of the citizens. If one is going to flip a coin make sure it is not two headed.

Commissioners Dirty Bob Dick, "Randy" Randi Miller and thuggish sidekick Dilbert Collins helped drive a successful 55 year old business from the Fairgrounds - Bell's.
So, that the Murphy carney family could control the revenues from the Tulsa State Fair Midway.
Our corrupt commissioners collaborated to destroy a Tulsa Icon.
Another Tulsa Icon gone into the dustbin of history.
Like the Stables Lounge. Now a Wal-Mart Neighborhood market.
Will the downtown Coney Island be next??

Ignorance is bliss....Is that you Pat..?
I am not sure of his conclusions that she couldn't run a park. There were a lot of factors involved with working with the county and fighting skirmishes with them that distracted them.
But I know his description of the park is accurate. The park suffered from deferred maintenance. It was pretty from a distance but I was amazed at its decline over the years. If they made a lot of money, they certainly did not plow it back into the site.

I'm not discounting the Murphy influence here. They worked the county for advantage and how they did it will probably never hit the light of day. And its tough making a seasonal business pay for annual expenses. However, the county goons weren't always working against the Bell's for 53 years. There were a couple lawsuits, battles with the surrounding neighbors and an inability to control unruly patrons. Their marketing was not so great either.
If they had focussed on site improvement, security and positive alliances perhaps they would still be there. My impression is that they had lots of plans, visions and competitive spirit but over reached their abilities.

Not sure that's the kind of quality I want in an elected official. Not saying KK would be any better though.
Having been acquainted with Bob Bell when after the war all products of metal required MRO number to purchase I saw him quite often at the junk yards going through the piles of throwaways searching for the car bodies of children petal toys. He constructed children rides with these, after he refinished them in his spare time working all day at a regular job. Then the train he set up in the 6800 block of E S\Admiral Pl. Remember well when he was negotiating with the commissioners to install a small park on the fair grounds for the children. And from a simple beginning he was able to build a very impressive children park.
Bell was allowed to take down the fence between the park and the fair midway, during the fair, then the problems with the no-bid-Murphy's created friction.
We all have heard about the delayed maintenance of that old city hall, because of the lack of funding, with many businesses and among them, as presumed Bell's reached the high cost of maintenance.
Has anyone walked down behind the midway during the fair to see the pile of junk that Murphy's brings with them?
It is his daughter-in-law, within her civil rights, seeking a seat on the fair board but first she must defend the practice of a half century old park, built and owned by the family for children.
Private industry, in most cases delay maintenance because of the high cost of labor or the lack of labor. Only a city can replace a deferred maintained city hall with a glass monstrosity by taxing the necessary food of the children.

Friday's a.m.'s Pat Campbell Show on KFAQ-AM had Pat reciting from a letter sent to the station by County Commissioner Candidate Karen Keith
DECLINING their invitation to come on the show for a radio debate between the two candidates.
Pat had offered both General Election candidates the same radio forum as the two GOP Primary candidates accepted before Sally Bell trounced incumbent Commissioner Randi Miller in the GOP Primary.
What's Karen Keith AFRAID of?
She's a trained teleprompter reader with 20 years TV experience as a News Reader.
Does Keith think that all she needs to win is to use her FIVE-FOLD fund raising advantage to buy the Media off?

Well, both were invited. Karen Keith declined.
I heard the earlier KFAQ debate between Miller vs. Bell.
Pat Campbell was the paragon of fairness.
He asked straight-forward questions.
Allowed the respondent plenty of time to answer.
He didn't appear to be biased.
In fact, he's so new to Tulsa that he probably doesn't know 1/10 of the things that Randi Miller has been accused of: Bell's Amusement Park ouster after 53 years; Murphy Carney Cash Flow Problem and Borg-land; Vision 2025 Tax Cheerleader; The "Channels" Tax Cheerleader; The Kaiser River Tax Cheerleader.
Oh, and for the Icing on the Cake: The Lorton's World outed Randi "Randy" Miller's frolic with her Pool Boy, Asst. Publik Werkes Direktor Buchert.
"Oh, you missed a spot, darling. A little more oil where it's most needed......."
Mrs. Buchert was NOT amused.
And, besides, Campbell arrived long after Karen Keith was a faded local TV news reader.....
[}:)]
You know the political games Bear. If the race is close she should debate Bell anywhere. Its not, so why risk being trapped on a station that has a history of ignorance and bias? And why even mess with radio when more effective medium is available?

Hmmm. Interesting non-response.
I'd sure like to know where all these ratings he's touting are. I just looked at the latest data on Radio and Records (owned by ACNielsen, which knows a few things about ratings). KFAQ's ratings in the past two reporting periods are 2.6 and 2.8, which is down substantially from the 2007 ratings of well over 3.0.
KFAQ now ranks 15th in the Tulsa market -- ouch.
Meanwhile, the KRMG station he derides is consistently in the top two or three of the market and beats KFAQ in the ratings by a 3-to-1 ratio.
Nevermind the facts, apparently.

Heh, just wait for Mudschlock to chime in:
"Unless you are a paid subscriber to Arbitron, you are just talking out your donkey. You don't have the full picture of the Tulsa radio ratings..."
Technically, Arbitron, not Neilson is the yardstick used by the stations and ad agencies in Tulsa unless something has changed. I just remember CM challenging RM on ratings a few months ago, claiming to have great ratings (which he would never reveal).
I see PC seems to have a similar personality disorder to Mudschlock.
When it comes right down to it, if I'm going to watch debates for candidates, radio has got to be the WORST forum to use.
I mean, I use visual mediums to look at a candidates body language, whether or not he/she is looking at the mediator directly. Does the candidate appear nervous? Things like that.
Imagine having the Kennedy vs Nixon debate over radio. While Kennedy probably still would have won, he may not have won the amount of people needed. Nixon looked scared sh*tless and nervous.

Earlier this week you mentioned that McCain should not have gone on a certain talk show. Why blast a candidate for a lesser elected position for not going on your talk show where she has nothing to gain in some views......
Just good radio ?

Big difference! First of all McCain did go on, she didn't. I'm not the lesser show, KRMG would be, I am the show and the fall ratings will bear that out. She needs to go on my show for the same reasons Hillary & Obama went on O'Reilly. Karen has made a big mistake, you can't win District 2 with just Democrats you need crossover Republicans. You're a funny little guy, too bad you won't be laughing on Novermber 4th.

Comparing Apples and Oranges again, RWarn.
A STATION's rating is NOT the same as a Show's rating. You are confusing the two. Let me HELP you unconfuse yourself.
There are 24 hours in the Day, not just 3 hours in the a.m. with Pat Campbell.
Remember, KRMG has Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in the afternoon.

The Tulsa Beacon this week has a front-page article detailing County Commissioner Candidate Karen Keith's refusal to participate in a debate sponsored by KFAQ-AM.
Why is a polished former TV news reader afraid to debate a grandmother?
Additionally, Keith is apparently also refusing an interview request by a Tulsa Beacon reporter.
Why's she hiding?
Here's the link:
http://www.tulsabeacon.com/?p=950
I think any candidate has the right to refuse an interview.
This station has promoted her opponent non-stop for weeks. How many times has Sally been on?
Why whould any candidate go on under those circumstances? Just because you have a microphone or a blog web site doesn't mean you can make demands of the candidate.
When you promote the opponent or attack the candidate, you don't get to act like your are a real journalist.
Some thought Keith had something to say.
....guess not.
To extrapolate would indicate same-O, same-O.
Maybe she should just sign up for TSF Queen if all we want is a pretty face.

Like I have said before, have them both on PBS which is non partisan and have it televised. Having a debate on radio is asinine in this day and age of television.
I'm sure KFAQ, in true Fox affliate fashion, will be lobbing softballs at Sally for the next 40 days.
That being said, I understand why she is refusing to have the debate on KFAQ.
I wouldn't be caught dead in participating in The Tulsa Beacon (I didn't know anyone even read it) or on KFAQ. I can't blame Karen Keith for not wanting to be involved with either.

The Beacon has achieved enough traction that they are now officially a "newspaper" of record.
I.E., they can accept
LEGAL notices.
And, since the
Lorton's World hates the Beacon, the Beacon is useful as an occasional counterpoint to the privileged local elite with pronounced a left-wing delusional bias.

I support Karen and I think this was a mistake on Karen's part. Sometimes you have to go on "enemy turf" to get your message across and answer tough questions. It's going to hurt her with independents who listen to KFAQ and it's not going to endear her to Republicans who are willing to vote candidate over party if she won't address them in media they may listen to or read.
That said, the Beacon has some problems with it's reporting:
"Keith helped create TulsaNow, a liberal organization with a blog website. She has been involved in the Brookside Business Association for many years and was instrumental in creating a Halloween parade.
Keith is a member of the board of the Rotary Club of Tulsa, the Governors Judicial Nominating Committee, member of Leadership Oklahoma Class 20, The Oklahoma Academy, Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and the State 4-H Foundation.
She is married to Tulsa attorney Patrick Mallory, who is working on the Great Plains Airlines bankruptcy case. While working for LaFortune, Keith was an outspoken advocate for Vision 2025, a billion dollar county sales tax increase that included a failed effort to bring a new Boeing plant to Tulsa."
Are we a "liberal" organization? Where is our "blog website"? Is that hidden somewhere deep in the "forum". Someone has neglected to share this with me if that's the case.
She is married to Patrick "Malloy". He is a bankruptcy trustee, though clever effort to try and associate her with the Great Plains cluster****.
V-2025 didn't fail to bring Boeing to Tulsa. Boeing changed their business model and FAIK, Spirit Aero has maintained or added jobs. Aside from this "epic fail". I was not an avid 2025 supporter, but I believe V-2025 has brought a lot of good to this community through it's various projects. People who keep trying to call that a failure and who lampoon those who did support it, sound like a bunch of flat-earthers.

Glad you're a subscriber.
From their earliest days of publication, they have been very useful in outing stories willfully spiked by the local Main Stream Media, especially as exercised by the
Lorton's World. They outed the $200K "lobbying" contract between the city entities and Margaret Erling Frette.
Was the Mayor buying "peace" with her husband, KRMG radio Shock Jock John Erling (Frette)?
Appeared so.
The Tulsa Now governing junta certainly aren't conservatives.

If Sally Bell retains the 81% of the GOP voters who gave her the stunning Primary Victory, and merely picks up a minority of the Independents and a few Democrats, she should EASILY beat Karen Keith.
It's a slightly GOP majority District. Which means it is probably a solidly GOP district based on voting patterns the past 15 years.

Saw Karen and Sally's son, Robbie, at a forum this Sunday...they both actually represented pretty well (Robbie'd probably be a better candidate than his mother), but what I thought was more interesting than their comments was the fact that Sally wasn't there. Robbie said she was out of town on a "personal function" in Appleton Wisconsin -- as I understand it from several in the crowd, it was the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the ultra-conservative John Birch Society. I guess that's "personal" in the Sarah Palin sense that a candidate's "world view" and "position" isn't really any of our "business." On the other hand, the fact that she'd go to that event probbly tells us a whole lot more about her world view than a whole lotta forums would, so I guess in the long run, maybe it helped people make a decision about who they want in office -- sure helped me!
