Forget what?
The 70's remake of King Kong?
I bet he's voting for McCain.
The Alamo?
Ohhhhhhhhh, must mean this kind of stuff . . .

I think he's trying to tell us that OKC is better than Tulsa and that they are getting a new double sky scraper instead of one as originally planned.
I keep trying to figure out how I might be misinterpreting comments on this thread, assuming no one could be so cold and childish as to make jokes about something as horrendous as the WTC disaster. I'm as big a fan of humor as the next person, but IMO this is in extremely poor taste.
Seriously, this crap gets shoved into my face for 7 years now. Every year. How could anyone forget? This imagery is shoved down our throats every year by right wingnut zealots like you guys. I bet you're watching a tibute video right now aren't you? Take that McCain sign out of your yard and wake up sheep!
If you don't want a post commented on or responded to don't post it. If you don't want to read something that might be offensive to you don't read it.
Enjoy the rest of your patriot day.
How am I going to know if it's offensive if I haven't read it yet? [8D]
I don't know about allll that, I was just being sarcastic. Sure did not mean to do so in poor taste. (//%22http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_Salty_Balls%22) Apologies, all.
Let's talk about something more positive rather than looking at right wing war mongering propoganda photos.
- On this day in 1822 the College of Cardinals finally caves in to the hard facts of science, saying that the "publication of works treating of the motion of the Earth and the stability of the sun, in accordance with the opinion of modern astronomers, is permitted."
It represented a major shift in dogma for the Catholic Church, a concession that the Earth, in fact, might revolve around the sun. Unfortunately, it came 189 years too late to do Galileo Galilei any good.

Nope, no "wingnut zealot" tribute video-watching here. I just don't think this is a funny subject. But hey, that's just me. And trust me when I say there's not now, nor will there ever be, a McCain sign in my yard.

Well that part is good to know at least. Some people just have a different sense of humor. Tomatoe - Tomato

If my comment above offended you, I apologize. I felt I was making fun of the title of the thread and not the image. I don't speak for the other posters above, but I assume that our feelings about the tragedy are similar to yours.
We often get caught up in reading too much into the fellow posters intentions, including the one whom assumed it was posted for political reasons. I often get stuck in a rut and feel everything is done for political reasons, too. The guy who started the thread is one of the people who argues about politicians and their intents. We playfully argue constantly on TulsaNow and probably used poor judgement this time.
The tragedy of 9/11 will be with us forever. The guy who started the thread knows that and probably just wanted us to reflect on that realization as well.
Please also realize that humor is one of the most common ways that people deal with tragedy. It insulates us from pain and acts like an outlet for emotion. Most of us are taught to suppress emotion, act like zombies in adversity, and as a result don't react properly. Add to the fact that everybody likes to be funny and many of us even think we are funny, and you have a recipe for people posting these kind of responses.
I hope you understand and accept our apology.
P.S. Lighten up, Francis
Sorry. Really rough day and I thought I'd take it out on you. (And no, it didn't make me feel a bit better.) Next time I'll try a margarita. It's so much tastier than crow. [;)]
P.S. "Francis" is usually much more easy-going and sees the humor in most everything.
From the 1981 movie "Stripes"...
Psycho: The name's Francis Sawyer, but everybody calls me Psycho. Any of you guys call me Francis, and I'll kill you.
Leon: Ooooooh.
Psycho: You just made the list, buddy. Also, I don't like no one touching my stuff. So just keep your meat-hooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you. And I don't like nobody touching me. Any of you homos touch me, and I'll kill you.
Sergeant Hulka: Lighten up, Francis.
I won't be pressured into apologizing for something percieved. I will however say that laughter is the best medicine. Some folks dwell on the past and some move on. That's just the way it is. [:o)]
