Title: Is Oprah a coward or something else?
Post by: iplaw on September 05, 2008, 11:15:44 AM
Oprah has officially decided that Palin isn't worth having on her show.

http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/05/oprah-to-palin-i-can-pencil-you-in-later/

BET covered the democratic convention and decided against covering the republican convention.  Now Oprah already hosted the Obamas and is not willing to have Palin on.  Can anyone actually argue that race isn't a factor with Obama supporters?

What a coward.

Black people aren't capable of being racist.  Just mean-spirited whitebreads like you.

Takes one to know one....although, how to you get so famous and rich by being a coward?
Are you jealous?

Oprah will not interview Palin because Palin's handlers will not expose the luvguv to the bright lights of the media without having control of the discussion. Without a staged q+a
session, the McShame potty can't put Bambi out there with no experience unless she knows what questions will be aimed at her and then it would be taking a huge risk and her handlers won't do that. There's no vetting a person who is gaurded by mean people.

Celebrities, actors/actresses, and political commentators are free of course to endorse any candidate or cause they see fit.

However, what has been shown MANY times before, and what Celebrities like George Clooney, Oprah, Annette Benning, and Public Pundits like Keith Olberman are going to find out the hard way, is if you take polarizing public positions, a significant portion of their audiences will boycott their programs, shows, and movies.

Period.

Then, when their ratings are sunk and their popularity falls, the Looney Left will walk away from them because their usefulness is over.

Discarded.

So while in theory they might still be actors/actresses, entertainers, commentators, or celebrities, when people quit buying their tickets or change the TV channel, their careers are THROUGH.

Finito.

Ask Ellen Degeneris....

Or Rosie O'Donnell.

Or Anne Heche until she fell in love with a hard Johnson to turn her away from being abnormal.

Think I'm wrong?

Show me.

Celebs need to keep their endorsements in their pants where they belong.

Stephen Baldwin was interviewed from the RNC this week.  That poor guy makes Charlie Sheen and Sean Penn look like members of MENSA.  It scares me some of these people actually vote or try to influence how others vote.

I'm not understanding why this is news.

I thought Oprah ENDORSED Obama. Didn't she?

SO why would she have Palin on her show? It is HER show after all. Why is this an issue?

OH, because it was on Drudge? Seriously folks. Drudge is a sensationalist right-winger, and this topic isn't news.

I tend to agree.  Oprah is NOT a journalist, so her responsibility to remain neutral (which many journalist don't do anyway) is strictly her own business.

But 'business' it what it really boils down to.  And her own statements are hurting her since she said she isn't going to use her show for a political platform.  Yet, she's had Obama on twice.  Again, that is up to her, but she risks offending, thus losing, many of her viewers.

Does she care?  I think so, if only for her own personal reasons.  Does she need the money?  Nope.  Is it a surprise Oprah is a Democrat?  Nope.  Is she being biased?  Yep.

Like so many that hold sway in T-town, she is a coward jealous of the spotlight who wants the world to think she is the smartest, sole game in town.

I think Oprah is afraid that she would reveal exactly how lefty and angry and out of touch with her audience she is when she would attack Palin.  If she had Palin on, she would probably permanently lose a certain portion of her fans - million$.

This will be a very polarizing election year.  Freedom & Goodness are competing against the dark forces of repackaged Marxism & Leninism.

Some people have long memories.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Oprah's viewership, after her palpable bias settles in with the Soccer Moms and the Crackhead Unwed Moms who watch her show.....

Well, at least she'll still have the Crackhead Unwed Moms watching her show.........

Won't that be something?  Do they buy her products?

IMHO, Oprah's brand just got significantly devalued........Her bankers are running the new numbers these weekend, calculating their write-down.

Ask Rosie O'Donnell about brand devaluation..........

Did I mention that Olbermann and Matthews got removed as the news anchors at MSNBC today?

Here's the Link to the Washington Post:

You're welcome.

I saw on CNN Headline News today a report that a group of Florida women have begun to organize a Boycott of Oprah and her products.

Her brand erosion has begun.....

ANY news about how many sponsors have cancelled?

Say good-bye to it, Oprah.

Enjoy your early retirement.

Maybe if Obama becomes President he can make you ambassador to New Zealand?

Just multi-tasking.

Give it a try-sometime.

P.S. The Edit was due to news TODAY about Olbermann and Matthews getting sacked from MSNBC.

Just added it in for additional foundation.

I agree. In a public forum, you can lose all credibility by taking polarizing public positions...or even just offensive and absurd ones...[;)]

One itty-bitty difference between those public celebrities and me:

I don't have a BRAND to protect upon which I make my living.......

I'm imparting my viewpoint on this Forum for your benefit:

Absolutely FREE!

Isn't that a Bargain?
