I hate to just cut and paste links, so here's a very brief rundown.
Palin is garnering a very positive approval rating among libertarians.
Being on McCain's ticket nullifies any "Libertarian friendly" vibes she may give off. The GOP of which she is running on the ticket of supports a powerful federal government in terms of both authoritarian and government spending aspects. Any views she has (or used to have) will not have any effect on McCain's administration. I highly doubt that even if McCain were to kick the bucket, she would actually step in and change the direction of things.
