Michael Moore: Hurricane Coming During GOP Convention 'Proof There Is a God in Heaven'
Controversial filmmaker admits he's delighted to see a natural disaster potentially interfere with the Republican event.
SICK! SICK!
EX-Dem Chair Don Fowler just made the same statement.
How can anyone celebrate a natural disaster that has already claimed the lives of hundreds, and may take hundreds more?
I don't care about political affiliation, anyone that celebrates death and destruction should be condemned!
From AP: Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann expressed "delight" that New Orleans was about to be hit by a Hurricane with the probable Destruction, Financial cost and tragic loss of life that a disaster of this type usually causes, but now Don Fowler, Former Democrat National Commitee Chairman and a High ranking mainstream member of the Party Brain Trust has said the same thing in a conversation with Democrat Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina.
Who's party is this? Any elected official Repub or Dem that makes a statement like this should be removed from office!
Where's the outrage?
How's about those two chicken hawks Cheeny and Busch deserting the convention. What putzes. Using a hurricane for an excuse for total incompetence.
You are exposed Gaspar. I saw the interview by Olbermann of Michael Moore. Didn't go down like that. Totally wrong spin and you have been exposed as the closet republican I always suspected you of being. But you got your headline and thats as far as most folks will go. Despicable behavior.
Ironically, although Moore is great at interviewing corporate stooges, he is an inept interviewee himself. But he never said he delighted in seeing a natural disaster take the lives of hundreds. He did laughingly joke that it was proof there is a God in Heaven that it coincided with the start of the republican convention. Olberman would have nothing of it and hardly responded. If you can't understand sarcasm and humor, switch over to the McCain mutual masturbation/orgasm society on the Fox channel.
When an evangelist claimed that NOLA was punished because of its gay population were you equally incensed? Did you hang a headline on that one? A belief widely held among evangelists is that God punishes sinners in this manner. If so, you and the other Republicans are screwed, blued and tatooed.
How about a link to this AP source? What? You say you can't find it right now?
Powerline. Apparently, your bar is set so low that the occasional blatant LIE is okay.
Here's Gaspar's "AP Source": a poster on the Powerline blog.
http://www.plnewsforum.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/38527/
I think that makes you a misleader, Gaspar. What's the other word for that? Rhymes with "pants on fire"?

Speaking of chickenhawks, how about Biden. FIVE deferments:
http://williamamos.wordpress.com/2008/08/31/joe-biden-used-5-deferments-to-keep-out-of-vietnam/#respond
And, while on the subject, where exactly did Obama serve?
Mike Moore and KO made it clear they wished no harm on New Orleans and residents in the Gulf Region.....they were just struck by the irony....oh the irony of 8 years of total fiascos coming down to the GOP contention and giving the Busheviks their out for not attending.
Gaspar, you're a dolt.

Where'd Lincoln serve?
Michael Moore and Don Fowler both made crass, shock value comments and then spent the rest of the day backpedaling.
While I don't think either want people to die the comments were still in poor taste.

First, stop being such a wuss by changing the subject. You teed up a fat fastball and it got knocked out of the park. Your insipid, snark comments about chickenhawks bit you hard. Indeed, not only is Biden a plagiarist and a liar, by your definition he is a chickenhawk (coward). Remember, he voted for the Iraq war too.
Second, are you honestly comparing Obama and/or Biden to Lincoln? Other than Obama and Lincoln being both lawyers and getting their political start in Illinois, what exactly do they have in common? And Biden? This racially insensitive bigot is the polar opposite:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM19YOqs7hU
Even that douchebag Kos smashed Biden over that "slip" and hoped that that "slip" would end Biden's career.

First, I think you seem not to understand what a "chickenhawk" is. Cheney, who received FIVE deferments, is a bellicose, fear-mongering war advocate who bangs the drum every time his party is in trouble. War hawk + Coward = chickenhawk.
Second, read your article. Biden was medically unfit, classified 1-Y by an Army doc because of asthma. That's one step above 4-f, he wasn't even draftable in Vietnam. Biden was "available for service only in the event of national emergency"
Cheney's FIVE deferments: four because he was a student and one for being a new father. Cheney made a choice. He chose cowardice.
Congratulations. You now hold a big fat bag 'o nuthin'.

Congratulations. You now hold a big fat bag 'o nuthin'.
Uh, I did read the article--all of it--which apparently you did not do. The "asthma" diagnosis came AFTER the five deferments. Incidentally, you did not find this passage from the article the least bit curious?
"In "Promises to Keep," a memoir that was published last year and became an instant best-seller after he was tapped as Obama's running mate, Biden never mentions his asthma, recounting an active childhood, work as a lifeguard and football exploits in high school."
IF he had asthma, why did he bother with getting the five deferments and simply get disqualified?
As far as being bellicose, here's Smoking Joe on Saddam Hussein:
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/04/oops-joe-biden-kicks-mud-on-durbins.html
Biden's a chicken hawk, even by your definition. As for Obama, I guess you forgot about his threat to take the WOT into Pakistan/ Here, I'll remind you:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/01/AR2007080101233.html
I also seem to recall something about Obama would go after Osama in his cave. Since I know he personally will not be doing it, since this guy never served in the military, I presume he will be sending other citizens men and women to do the job. In short, the dems are putting up two lawyers to fight the war on terror.
Bag of nuthin' huh?
1-Y, "...because of asthma as a teenager".
Asthma is a chronic condition. He has a medical examination that disqualifies him from service when he was 28, and since the condition apparently dated back to his teen years, covers the entire deferment period.
You are really going to have to do better. The only question that arises from this is how far are you willing to stretch the truth, Guido?
We already caught Gaspar in a flat-out fib, today. You trying to join him?

When an evangelist claimed that NOLA was punished because of its gay population were you equally incensed? Did you hang a headline on that one? A belief widely held among evangelists is that God punishes sinners in this manner. If so, you and the other Republicans are screwed, blued and tatooed.
Really? I suppose this vid of Fowler is a fake too.

You two are sad, sad, sad.
You make false assertions and then expect people to argue with you?
How is a Powerline poster an AP Source?
You are discredited, Gaspar. You've proven that you don't think you have to play fair.
This is Michael Moore's exact quote:
"I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven," Moore said, laughing. "To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River."

Didn't one of the pro-war evangelists pray for rain during Obama's acceptance speech? That strikes me an more than a little arrogant, and worse, it presumes God sides with the Republicans. With God on your side, it's OK to hate and kill.

I don't need to yell nuthin'. Guido thinks he can call Biden a coward by using an article that totally sinks his argument.
Biden had asthma.
When he's called on it, he tries to change the subject. What if I don't feel like playing that way? What if next time somebody throws some bullsh*t in the air, we just call it "bullsh*t" and let it fall back down on his head? What's the problem with that?

Hey Guido! When did FDR serve? Why do you keep linking service with qualifications when there is no obvious link other than you and 'Ol Pappy served too?
Are you guys unable to see that the issues here are good judgement, people managing skills and an understanding of domestic and global world issues, and Obama leads in those categories? You know he has legislative experience at a federal level. Look it up yourself if you can.
Oh, yeah but he's in favor of a woman's right to decisions about her own body (like McCain used to), he's a lawyer and he didn't serve so that's that. Sweet.

Bullcrap. I did not change the subject you jerk. Read all of my posts on the subject in their entirely. I stated that Biden had 5, count them, 5 deferments BEFORE he was declared medically unable to serve (I guess there was no job in the military for people who suffer from asthma). Now, did the article state he had five deferments that allowed him to stay out of service, yes or no. The answer is YES. That means he sought after and got five free passes from military service while others did not. He gets out of college, where he played football, and suddenly is unable to serve in the military because of teenage asthma. Perhaps if Biden was not such a noted liar, his asthma alibi might be believable. Indeed, it is funny that he apparently never mentioned his asthma in his memoirs, which I posted and you falsely charge as changing the subject.
This whole thing began by FOTD calling Bush and Cheney chickenhawks. The foundation for Cheney being a chickenhawk was his academic deferments. Now, when it becomes known that Biden received the same deferments, it's excuse time for Chickensh*t.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because we are a nation at war right now (which we weren't when FDR took office) and it would be nice to have someone with some military experience as commander in chief rather than a bunch of lawyers. This, by the way, should mean something since I am a lawyer. Moreover, where do you get off claiming Obama has ANY understanding of global or domestic affairs? He has only been in the senate since 2004, and he has been running for president nearly full time since 2006. This guy chairs a committee that never conducted policy hearings. Oh, yeah. That war on terrorism thing. Well then I guess LBJ wasn't qualified to fight the war on poverty either. And since FDR had no war to fight he was OK for battling the depression but we should have jettisoned him after Pearl Harbor. No service experience ya know. Your logic is pretty weak here.
But carry your logic farther. Lets take the bunch of lawyers who are useless in understanding the arcane intricacies of government, and swap them out for military brass! There must be some use for these well educated lawyers and since the military will be busy running the country we won't be wasting our talent pool. There ya go G, another political party platform.
Even weaker is the argument that he chaired a committee that never conducted policy meetings when Palin wasn't even on a committee at the federal level. Even so, if he holds hearings its a waste of time cause he doesn't understand anything anyway, but if he doesn't hold meetings then that's also bad!?
Exactly how long since you've beaten your wife sir?Weaker still is you doubting his understanding of foreign policy and world events. I read. I watch. I listen. Therefore I claim, and have every right to when I see a 'ol Pappy show he doesn't know who or where the players are around the world. Yeah, that Czeckoslovakia is a swell country. Hey, Liebster, which ones do we like, the Shiites or the Kurds? Ever heard him talk economics? "I have people for that". "You're not rich until you make $5million a year" Very reassuring. Like he has people to do his e-mail.
Weakest? He's only been in the Senate since 2004. True enough, though he had many more years in the Illinois legislature you must have missed. Years when Palin was...not in a legislative or executive position. On the board of the Assemblies of God if that counts. Years when 'Ol Pappy was actually opposing the Bush administration lunacies.
Once again I notice that none of the critics of Obama (around here) seem interested in touting McCain's legislative prowess, executive skills and judgement preferring instead to concentrate on creating fantasy histories for Obama. Why? It distracts folks from the key questions you don't want to address:
Are you happy with the last eight years of Republican administration?
Are you happy with the way the war was started and prosecuted by the Republican administration?
Are you worried about the loss or curtailment of freedoms and the resulting imbalance of powers in the past Republican administration?
Are you confident that McCain is capable of improving our economy to benefit the middle classes as well as the rich?
Do you think McCain is any different in attitude and outlook than the previous Bush administration?
Isn't McCain MORE OF THE SAME?
Have you had enough!?!?

Why would a guy who was medically disqualified from military service need an "alibi", Guido?
You ask if the the military has jobs for asthmatics. No they do not, Guido. Here's an article about softening military standards due to the need for men to serve in Iraq:
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/asthma.htm
quote:
Asthma
Previously, any history of asthma was disqualifying, regardless of age. While medical waivers were sometimes possible, waiver approval usually required scheduling and passing a pulmonary function test. Under the new policy, Asthma is only disqualifying if it occurs after the applicant's 13th birthday.
Emphasis mine. They are very persnickety about it and it looks like Biden's story fits right in with the rules. It looks like he was telling the truth.
You REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to smear this guy over asthma. He might have had five deferments like Cheney, but unlike Cheney, they would not have made a difference. Cheney chose to stay in college and let others do his fighting. Biden, however, would have been disqualified for service due to a medical condition. You can futz around with the timing as much as you want, but you can't unmake the fact that Biden had asthma as a teenager and that would have disqualified him from service at any point in time.

What I was loving is the fact that rather than focus on the absolutely repugnant words of Moore and Fowler, you chose to focus on where the report/post came from. Well, now you can pick your source because it has been reported by everyone and people are demanding a formal apology from Fowler and his lackeys.
Fowler says he was just paraphrasing a statement made by Jerry Falwell during Katrina. So now I find Fowler just as repugnant as Falwell.
Again I'm sorry that the source of my VERY TRUE story was incorrect. The entertainment factor was how you chose to focus on that, rather than the VERY REAL words of VERY REAL people exposing them for what they are.
Guido, I respect military service. Honestly, I do. My goal in HS was to make it into West Point. We had some cadets visit a small group of us in 1969 at the height of the war and I was so humbled to even be asked to meet with them. It didn't work out. You have to be recommended as you know by a Senator (campaign contributions or party involvement) or be so outstanding that you can't be ignored. I was neither. No enmity though, I went to college, got married, outlook changed, got a 2S then a married deferment. Then dropped both for a year and waited to be called. No one called, the draft disappeared.
On the internet I've been referred to as a draft dodger. Curious to me. I still love the trappings of the military and the excitement, disciplin and structure it offers young people.
But it isn't the only path available for patriots. I only say this because I know you see it as such. When you say something like, "It didn't keep him from playing football" I have to wince. I coached kids with inhalers in baseball who later played football. It didn't keep them back at all. But the military has more requirements than sports. You don't want a lost inhaler on the field of battle causing you and your buddies complications.
You're smart G and I don't think you're a fringe guy. You and the other repubs would do us all a favor by focussing on just why the McCain/Palin ticket is good for the country rather than attack Obama/Biden.

Loving this.
You took a quote from some dumbass poster at the Powerline forum and put "From AP" in front of it. AP is a news agency, a poster in a forum is not a news agency.

You've got this opportunity here to talk about legitimate differences of opinion on policy matters of REAL importance. Instead, you choose to smear people with half-assed conjecture, selective facts, misquotes, and apparently when necessary, lies.
There
is a line Gaspar...you can't be telling lies. Let me break it down for you, since you seem to be unclear on the subject:
1. There are legitimate issues worthy of debate: Palin may not have the experience to step into the presidency,
2. And then there's bullsh*t innuendo and half-assed conjecture that really isn't worth talking about but people do anyway: Palin chose to fly home from Texas to Alaska
while in labor...yeah, right. Bristol stayed home 5-8 months with "mono"...lmao,
3. And finally, there are outright lies: From AP, The baby belongs to Bristol and
Todd.
If you can't tell the difference and/or think it doesn't matter, you are wrong. The truth does in fact matter, no matter what Karl Rove thinks. Don't attempt to lecture me on what I "focus on" when I catch someone in a lie.
When you tell a fib, you
get a lecture, you don't
give one. [;)]

It was never about smearing Biden. It was about FOTD's charge that Cheney was a chickenhawk and how Biden, by definition, was a chickenhawk as well. You decided to stick your nose into that argument by trying to distinguish Biden's Vietnam dodging from Cheney.
Biden is a confirmed bigot, liar, and plagiarist. Those are not "smears" (which by way of illustration would be claiming that Palin's Down's baby Trig was actually her daughter's child or that she supported a Nazi sympathizer), those are legitimate attacks on his character.

Here is a thread I would like you to review:
http://www.tulsanow.net/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11179
Specifically, this post from that thread:
I think she is lying about the firing. Fast talking prevaricator. She called over 15 times to have her ex brother-in-law terminated. The chief resisted apparently and he was fired. Now its because he wasn't "productive"? Yeah, right. That stuff may pass in corporate ranks but not civil service. "At will" sure but you still have to defend yourself better than that.
Agree, this is about poor judgement by MC and poor vetting by his staff.
How do you put someone this close to the presidency who believes in teaching creationism in public schools. Is that the new direction she's taking the party? Same as the old direction.
Your hypocrisy is absolutely astonishing and speaks volumes to whatever credibility you think you have.
As for your respect for the military, stow it. I do not care.
