Just in case anyone has an affinity for figs, I have 2 large fig trees and the figs are ripe and some ripening. I dont eat them, so if anyone wants them, this weekend would be the time to come get them before the other critters do. The Chinese Apples look to be ripe too but usually the local Chinese people come knocking and get those. I also have some pears left on one of my pear trees. They are large pears though not sure what kind they are. The neighbor said they were "canning pears"? Anyway, I cant possibly eat a 10th of them and they are just going to rot otherwise.
My back yard is open so just wander back and get em. Send me an IM and I will give you my address.

I think someone is coming out this Sunday to get a batch. Figs are odd, this batch was ready last weekend and this weekend,,, now there is a whole other batch of little figs growing, no telling when they will be ready. The first batch had some big figs on them due to the rain. The second batch may be a bit wimpy.
They kind of continually grow and ripen in cycles.
They just seem alien to me lol, all squishy and strange looking inside lol. I like my figs to be in square little paddies with breading around them, then wrapped in plastic, aka "fig newtons". Just not natural otherwise lol.

I am not sure what the other fruit is and if it is ripe? It was on the tree in the front yard - green, oval fruits with a stone in the middle. Any ideas?

But if there is a prolific round 2 of figs, let me know and I'll return the kindness by leaving cake on your doorstep.

Grrrr! I knew I'd be sorry I didn't get in on the fresh figs, maybe next batch!
Dayzella, I'd be trying the fresh fig bars on the second link. If there's not enough to do the 4 cups the recipe calls for...just halve the recipe and do the bars in an 8x8 pan.

There are still plenty of green figs that will continue to ripen. Ya almost have to constantly pick them to get a large bunch. Too ripe and the critters get into them. Btw, you will notice that my figs are not the traditional dark purple ones, I believe they are called green or white figs and do not get as dark as the purple ones.
The small fruit in the front is a Chinese Apple? What I am told anyway. I didnt even know you could eat them and was going to cut the tree down as a nuisance. It makes loooots of those little apples and lots of little trees underneath. A few years ago a family of Chinese people knocked on the door asking if they could have the fruit on it. I said sure, and that I had though of cutting the tree down. Then the older gentleman in my yard started hollering "Noooo, you no cut down! We look everywhere, it only one!" So I left it and every so often when the "apples" are ripe, get people coming by and snagging them. They are ripe now, so anyone who wants them can come get those as well. There are a lot of those.
Chinese Apple is another name for a Pomegranate. Do you have pomegranates growing back there too???

Definitely not pomegranates. I ate one - it had a texture similar to an apple, but with a stone and not seeds inside. I wonder if the County Extension could identify the tree by the fruit?
I think the figs are called Celeste figs. Maybe :)
